Kraft Meadows Middle School
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Kraft Meadows Parents & Guardians:
As the school year draws to an end, I would like to thank our students, staff, and families for a year to remember! I cannot begin to thank-you all for your understanding, support, and patience. There is no single person or thing that makes Kraft Meadows a great place for learning. It takes a collaborative approach from our students, teacher, support staff, custodians, bus drivers, and parents to make KMMS a successful place that is devoted to doing what is best for our children, especially in a year like this!
I also want to take this time to inform our 8th grade parents about our 8th grade recognition event. Due to the April 19, MDHHS limitations on indoor gatherings, we will have to adjust the format for our 8th grade recognition ceremony. This event will take place on June 3, at 9:30 AM in the High School Fine Arts Center. Unfortunately, this event will be held with students and 8th grade staff only (no parents or audience), as we cannot accommodate the current limited number that are allowed to gather indoors. This event will be videotaped and shared with 8th grade parents on this day.
The entire staff at Kraft Meadows wishes our 8th grade class the best as they transition to the high school. Thank-you for your continued support and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Go Scots!
Steve Uyl

LOOKING AHEAD:
FinalForms will open to take registrations for the 2021-2022 school year on June 1, 2021 for Middle School Athletes. You will need to obtain a new Athletic physical for the 2021-2022 school year. The new physical needs to be dated by the physician after April 15, 2021 to be valid for the 2021-2022 school year.
All student-athletes will again be required to register in our online athletic registration program. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic participation forms for your students online. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! You will review your information once per school year to verify the information is correct and sign the forms. Using FinalForms is a one stop shop for the entire registration process. Please use the Athlete Registration link that is provided on the Athletics Homepage and create a new account under the "Parent Login" portion. On the Athletics homepage, you will also see a link for the "Parent Playbook" which gives you step by step instructions through the registration process. You do not need to pay the athletic fee until the season you are registering your athletic for begins. The registration link is: https://caledonia-mi.finalforms.com
There is an Athletic fee of $75.00 per athlete per season, with a $250.00 limit collected per family, per academic year. (Middle School participation fees are separate from high school fees.)

April was full of Career Guidance opportunities for our students. 7th graders are working toward registering on their Naviance Account and submitting their Educational Development Plans and 8th graders were exposed to the Michigan Career Quest sponsored by MiWorks and the KISD.
Here are some opportunities to continue the career exploration that your child has begun:
Girls In Non-Traditional Occupations
May 12th, 2021 - 1:00pm - 2:00pm
Help young women discover high-wage, in-demand careers they might otherwise not consider! During this virtual career exploration experience, just for girls, students will take a virtual tour of Kent Career Tech Center’s Welding, IT, Construction and Engineering-related programs to explore careers in these fields.
While traditionally male-dominated, many women excel in these fields – if they know about them.
Let me know if your daughter would be interested in attending this virtual experience and I will coordinate it here at school;-) If your child is an online learner, I will send you the necessary links.
Career Explorers
Business - Virtual
April 13 - May 20, 2021 (Tuesdays/Thursdays), 3:30pm - 4:00pm
We are excited to be offering a new virtual career exploration program designed to give students grades 7-12 a deep dive into a career pathway of interest. Over 6-weeks, students will have the opportunity to meet 12 career mentors through 30-minute Career Chats. These Zoom-based career conversations allow mentors to share their own career path, information about education and daily work, along with valuable industry insights. Additional Explorers activities include self-assessment and conducting an information interview. Students can earn a Certificate of Completion for college/scholarship applications. Explorers will help young people make educated career choices. There are 5 more experiences offered. Let me know if you would like me to connect you with the Career Explorers team.
You may find career exploration in a summer camp experience-- or just plain old fun;-) Click on the link to view offerings throughout West Michigan.
