Hawk Families:
We’ve had an exceptional week at BECS! Students have settled into a routine, athletics have begun, and school club sign-up will begin soon! In addition, our first break is just around the corner! Please review the newsletter for upcoming events, as well as important dates to put on your family’s calendar.
Also, if you have any interest in being a substitute teacher at BECS, please review the information provided below. There is currently a significant sub shortage, and we would love to get some additional substitute teachers on board at BECS.
Have a great weekend!

Yearbook
The yearbook team would love to showcase students' interests and talents outside of school. Please send school-appropriate photos of your student to our yearbook team at yearbook@bromleyeastcs.org. Make sure to include a name, grade level and what the student was doing in the photo. Thank you so much for your support and for being a part of the BECS family!
Assessment
BECS students participate in a variety of assessments throughout the year to help teachers and students know how they are progressing with their learning. This week students began Fastbridge testing in both reading and math and our K - 3 students began their DIBELS testing. A comprehensive list of assessments done throughout the year can be found HERE. This is a live document and will be updated as more specific testing dates are selected.
Extended Absences due to Illness or self-quarantine
Please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher, the office, and Nate Jacobson if your child is or will be absent 3 or more consecutive days due to an illness or self-quarantine and is healthy enough to engage in learning.
Elementary and Middle School teachers will provide learning options which may include live streaming and/or asynchronous work. In coordination with your child’s teacher, a start date will be determined within 24 hours of contact. Assignments will continue to be posted on See Saw (K-2), Google Classroom (3-5), and Infinite Campus.
This short-term option is for students who are unable to come to school in person due to illness or self-quarantine, not for short-term illnesses (less than 3 days) or vacations.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Fall conferences will be held October 5th - 7th from 4:30 - 6:30 PM. Elementary conferences will be by appointment. Middle school conferences will be student-led drop-in conferences on October 5th and 6th, with scheduled team conferences on October 7th. All teachers will reach out the week of September 13th to schedule conferences and provide additional logistical information.
Pastries with the Principals
Do you want to hear more about what is going on at BECS in a smaller setting? Join Ms. Shaver and Dr. Kohl, have a pastry, and enjoy some time asking questions and hearing all about BECS progress toward its goals and other topics. There is no ongoing commitment to attend. However, we would like to plan for food so please let us know if you will join us on September 17th at 8:45am RSVP HERE. Please remember any adult entering BECS will be asked to bring their ID and be scanned into the building.
