Executive Committee Update

Friday, October 12th

After a slight delay to sort out a few technical problems the first issue of STAGE DOOR was issued on Monday and a printed version was sent to the 2 members and 2 life members who have not provided email accounts.

This will provide us with a very effective communication tool to keep members informed but also provide members with a communication forum to which they can contribute.

Anna worked hard to make sure we have a professional newsletter and I certainly think she's done us proud. If you agree and you've got a moment please drop her an email thank you. (Email her at anna.mitchelson@rsc.org.uk)

Weekly Rehearsals

First rehearsal is on Monday 15th October, 7.30pm - I hope as many of the Executive Committee as can will take part but even if you are unable to do so your support at the first rehearsal would be appreciated.

The youth choir will rehearse 6.30pm - 7.30pm.

Christmas Events

We've got these dates now confirmed in the diary:

Saturday 24th November - Christmas Crackers, Sheriff Hutton Village Hall

Sunday 2nd December - Christmas Crackers, The Black Lion, Thirsk

Tuesday 4th December - Ding Dong Merrily, National Centre for Early Music

Monday 17th December - Alne Hall - Christmas Carol singing

Tickets now on sale for Ding Dong Merrily via National Centre for Early Music box office.

When confirming the arrangements for visiting Alne Hall, Trevor Kay booked supper at The Beechwood Close Hotel, Shipton Road, York. I know we did discuss whether to look at a more local venue in Alne but as Trevor went ahead and booked the Beechwood Close my proposition is that we should go with this and actively encourage members who may not be able to join at Alne Hall to come along for some Christmas cheer at the Beechwood Close Hotel so we can have a social event. Do the EC agree?

A5 flyers for Ding Dong Merrrily/Christmas Crackers received - I'll bring a supply to rehearsal on Monday.

Also collected a small supply of A4 posters for both today.

Ding Dong Merrily added to the whats on YORK website: http://www.whatsonyork.com/EventDetails.cfm?EventDetailID=26357.

Spring 2013

Joseph Rowntree Theatre booked Sunday 7th April - Saturday 13th April.

Application to perform sent to Samuel French Limited - confirmation awaited - will be ready with announcement as soon as we receive the contract.

The website is now updated and the technical issues resolved. Again Anna has worked hard behind the scenes on this. From time to time the odd typo can creep in, if you spot anything please be sure to let either Anna or myself know.

Social Media

Anna maintains a Facebook and a Twitter account for the society (see links below). Some members post messages on Facebook but not many 'tweet'. However many may, like me, be passive readers and simply follow what's on the sites without feeling the need to post a message! I'm certain these will develop in years to come as part of the communication strategy.

York Musical Theatre Company

York Musical Theatre Company was founded in 1902 under its former name of York Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society. The Company changed its name on reaching its centenary in 2002.
