4th Six Weeks Newsletter

Love (For Books!) is in the Air!

Welcome to another edition of JEMS Library News! This 4th Six Weeks was packed with amazing and fun activities that both students and staff enjoyed. Check out all the cool things that happened in our library this six weeks! The next few weeks will be filled with state assessments, however, feel free to come to the library in the mornings and after school to use the library's resources.

Epic! Books in the Classrooms

Our campus recently obtained class sets of laptops for the classroom. Students were taught about and how to access free e-books. Teachers were able to utilize these resources in the classrooms with their laptops. This allowed students to reach their AR point and word goals! Way to go, students!

Buncee Activities

I recently became a Buncee Ambassador and as a result I was able to obtain more student accounts for my students. Students that were new to the program were taught design basics and how to use animations in their presentations.

Texas History Field Trip

I had the opportunity to accompany Teams Kentucky and Longhorns on their field trip to the Museum of South Texas History. Students learned about local history, early agriculture in the Rio Grande Valley, and how US history shaped our communities in South Texas.

Battle of the Books

Congratulations to G. Flores (Team Captain), V. De Los Santos, J. Sanchez, and G. Porras for representing our campus at this year's Battle of the Books Competition. It was a tough contest, but we ranked fourth place!

TCEA Conference 2019

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend this year's TCEA Conference in San Antonio. It was great to network with so presenters and educators that have the same vision of technology in schools.

Valentine's Day Library Activities

Love for books is in the air! Students worked on Book Love Buncees & Flipgrids and also participated in Speed Dating with a Book event! Students took home new titles and now have the perfect date for Valentine's Day!
