Hello FUSD Staff and Community,

Our schools are filled with excitement and appreciation as we make our way to the last day of school, with celebrations at many sites to honor our fantastic students and staff, including special events at many of our high schools for seniors as they make plans for life beyond graduation.

Many sites celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week from May 1-5 in acknowledgement of the amazing certificated staff across FUSD. Some schools acknowledge classified and certificated together, and/or celebrate staff at a different time. At each of our schools, this much is true: FUSD has amazing educators challenging and inspiring each student, and we are grateful to each employee for sharing their professional excellence with our school communities. FUSD will mark Classified Employees Week from May 22 to 26 to thank our classified CSEA, SEIU and FSMA employees.

I thank each student, employee, parent, guardian and community member working to make both end-of-year events and everyday moments significant and special for our students. I wish you my best in these final weeks of school.

State of the SURF 2023

At this week’s Board meeting, SURFBoardE (Students United for Representation to the FUSD Board of Education) presented State of the SURF 2023, a review of their remarkable accomplishments this school year.

Thank you to each SURFBoardE member for their work on behalf of all FUSD students, and to Adult School Assistant Principal Amy Perez for supporting this important work.

COVID Testing Updates

Effective immediately, over-the-counter COVID-19 rapid antigen tests are available to FUSD students at their school office, and to staff through their supervisor. Proctored testing is no longer offered at FUSD schools or the District Office.

Visit our COVID-19 testing webpage for more information.

MAZE Process

MAZE is Fremont Unified School District’s annual registration confirmation process in which parents/guardians:

  • provide required information for each enrolled student - such as emergency contacts,

  • acknowledge certain parent/guardian and student rights and responsibilities, and

  • access specific school forms/information.

Completing the MAZE process ensures your student’s school has accurate information, and allows families to view student schedules/classroom assignments and their teachers when that information is released in August.

MAZE forms for all FUSD students must be completed online through the Infinite Campus (IC) Parent Portal. The window to complete the MAZE process for the 2023-24 school year is July 17 to August 7, 2023.

While MAZE forms will not be available until July 17, we strongly recommend that you take a few moments and log into your IC Parent Portal now to address any access issues. Click here for IC Parent Portal troubleshooting and support.

Please do not complete the New Student Registration as it will duplicate your student(s).

Parents/Guardians will receive a notice MAZE information at the email address indicated in the IC Parent Portal, and updates will be posted to both the FUSD and school websites.

New Websites in 2023-24

We’re excited to announce that FUSD is updating our district and school websites! By July 1, all websites will have a new look and be under a new domain: fremontunified.org.

Look out for more information in the coming months!

2023-24 New Student Enrollment Open Now

Transitional kindergarten (TK), kindergarten, sibling priority and other new student enrollment for the 2023-24 school year is open now at www.fremont.k12.ca.us/enrollment.

FUSD will offer extended day kindergarten starting in the 2023-24 school year. Starting next year, kindergarten start times will match or closely align to the schedule for grades 1-5 at each school, and all elementary schools in FUSD will offer expanded day care to serve students after school hours.

Eligibility for transitional kindergarten is expanding: children who will be 5 years old between September 2, 2023 and April 2, 2024 can enroll in this free program for 2023-24 to get a head start in school and build their social, communication and independence skills.

If your student is currently attending an FUSD school in grades TK-11, there is no need to re-enroll.

Get Involved in FUSD

We are currently recruiting representatives to serve on various committees. Whether you're a parent, alumni, student, teacher, or simply someone who cares about the future of Fremont, you can help support FUSD and our students by serving on a committee. Learn more.

Thank you all for your continued support for our students, staff and schools.

Sincerely,

CJ Cammack
