STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS
Sandpipers win Grand Champion
Chesterton High School Show Choirs are on a winning streak! The team traveled to the Ft. Atkinson Showcase in Wisconsin where they ended the night as the Grand Champions.
On Saturday, February 10, the Drifters, Sandpipers and their band The Business earned a tremendous success for the CHS Show Choir Program. During Preliminary Awards, the Drifters were the Treble/Bass Prep Division Champions, while the Sandpipers earned a spot in Finals, entering the evening in second place. Sandpiper Luke Housman was named best Bass solo in a show.
After advancing to Finals, the Drifters were declared the Overall Prep Division Champions, and were the fifth highest score of the entire day! The Sandpipers went on to win Grand Champion honors, as well as the award for Best Choreography. The Business captured the Best Band Award. The competition also includes the opportunity for students to compete with their prepared solos, and Luke Housman was the overall top score. The students left everything out on the stage and represented Chesterton with so much integrity, kindness and honor off the stage.
It was an incredible day for the Chesterton Show Choir and their support team who helped to cheer them on, load up their equipment, and keep them safe. Thank you to the Duneland Transportation, Chesterton Administration and Ft. Atkinson Show Choir program for making this trip possible and allowing the students to achieve this success.
The CHS Show Choirs are under the direction of Choral Director Kristin Morris and Instrumental Director Matt Christensen. The Drifters are choreographed by Ellie Jordan and the Sandpipers are choreographed by Randy Sage and Ellie Jordan, supported by an incredible group of stage dads, The Do-Dads, amazing chaperones, and incredible parents and fans!

STAFF RECOGNITION
Duneland Exchange Club - Proudly We Hail
Exchange Clubs across America recognize community members for their regular and proper display of the American Flag. This year’s recipient is Chesterton High School Receptionist Mary Whitmer, pictured at left with Duneland Exchange Club President Michelle Jatkiewicz. Whitmer was chosen for the CHS 9/11 flag memorial display. Mary and her committee of students and staff have continued the tradition started by Tom and Lisa O’Keefe and their children after the tragic events of 9/11/01. Over 2,700 flags are displayed every year on the lawn outside the CHS football stadium. Each flag displays the name of one soul lost.
