Parkway Library Happenings
Winter Edition 2016
Hour of Code
I did the HOC
All PW students in grades K5 through Grade 3 participated in the PW Library's Hour of Code! It was so much fun.
Code.org
Code.org had created many great resources for teachers and students to learn computer science and to try their hand at coding with Angry Birds, Star Wars, Moana and Mindcraft.
codeSpark Academy's The Foos
Grade 1 students CANNOT get enough of this coding app! Most asked questions of classroom teachers this week: "When I'm done, can I code with the Foos?"
Coding Symbaloo
Visit the PW Lib website's coding page for a Symbaloo full of great coding resources. There are videos, websites and apps! Check it out at www.pwlib.weebly.com/coding.
Great Job!
The HOC helps students learn 21st century skills: communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking & problem solving.
Kodable
The Kodable app is for pre-readers and a great tool for K5 students to start programming. Students help their fluff ball get through the maze, using sequence, repeats and looping.
