PACK 678
SPRING NEWSLETTER VOL. 1
Happy Spring!
Well, it is April , which means the weather should be warming up to help warm up the water I am seeing in all the neighborhood pools, but clearly Mother Nature has other ideas. I hope she remembers soon so that our upcoming April and May events have good weather.
Your Committee Chair is trying something new to get out all the information the Pack needs to know. A newsletter, not sure how often it will go out, but here is the first of them.
PACK 678 HAS A FEW OPEN POSITION ON THE PACK COMMITTEE
It takes more than the Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, Den Leaders and Committee Chair for the Pack to be successful. There are a few vacant positions on the Pack Committee. We are in need of:
Treasurer
Outdoor Event Organizer
Advancement Coordinator
Please let me know if you think any of these position are something you can help with or have questions about. Email me at cubscoutpack678@gmail.com
APRIL EVENTS
APRIL 26TH - PACK MEETING - St. John's UMC at 7pm
TROOP 980 FLEA MARKET
This is a Pack 678’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The Pack earns money in two ways. First, Pack 678 has a booth/stall at the Flea Market, which requires that we have items to sell. The other way is by helping the Troop with their concession stand.
As with all of our events it takes volunteers and family members to make it a success. So, what does this means to me, you are asking. The first way that you can help is to look around your house and see if during this month of Spring Cleaning, there are items that you can donate to our booth. More information on how and when to donate.
The second is to volunteer your scout and yourself for one of the time slots during the event. We typically have at least 2 scouts work the concession stand at the same time that their parents are working at the Flea Market booth. This year it is very important that we get as many scouts and parents involved since we just bridged 10 boys into Boy Scouts we have fewer families involved in the Pack right now, so we need everyone to pitch in were they can. So far this year when I have asked for help you all have jumped high and your Committee Chair is grateful.
But now back to the topic at hand. Flea Market. The event is a 2.5 hour commitment per family. We need volunteers starting at 8am through 4:30pm. The time slots that need to be filled are:
8:00 am - 10:30am
10:00am - 12:30pm
12:00pm- 2:30pm
2:00pm - 4:30pm
Please email me at cubscoutpack678@gmail.com to let me know which slot your family would like volunteer for.

MAY EVENTS
Den Crossover Cermonies
As the school year draws to an end, the Pack's Scouts are completing their requirements for their Den, so we celebrate with a Cross Over Ceremony for boys. And yes, there will be a sweet treat for all the boys. More information to come in a later newsletter

TRI-UNIT POOL PARTY
This is a great event when all of Pack, Troop and Crew members get together for burgers, hot dogs, other great food and of course fun in the pool. Burger, hot dogs and drinks are provided and families are asked to bring side dishes and desserts. More information will be coming out closer to the event as a reminder but also with sign-up information on food so that we don't end up with 20 bags of chips and short on salads and fruit.
One of the things that is needed for this event is a Coordinator, the go-to person who would send out the sign up information and organize the event by finding volunteers to help with set-up, being the grillmaster and other tasks. If you are interested in helping out please email me at cubscoutpack678@gmail.com
