Tanner Elementary Teacher of the Year
Emily Paschall
Emily Paschall, 3rd grade teacher at Tanner Elementary School, teaches with a dedication and passion to empower children to create a better future for themselves. Entering into her fourth year of teaching 3rd grade, she leads her department with creative teaching methods that produce great results in the classroom. Through her seven years of teaching, Emily has gained a deep understanding of content standards across the grade levels and is an advocate of helping teachers unpack the standards for greater depth of knowledge in their curriculum. Emily provides resources to teachers that break the traditional mold of instruction. She constantly looks for innovative ways to bring a passion and energy into the classroom. As a lifelong learners herself, Emily's purpose as an educator is to sow seeds of character, ambition, and a love of learning in all her students. She guides her learners by providing meaningful opportunities which inspire life-long innovators to reach their fullest potential. Her enthusiasm for kids and education is contagious and encourages new teachers to follow suit. As a teacher leader, Emily has led many professional development sessions at her school and across the district for teachers on technology, 1:1 integration, and standards based teaching in reading and math. Summative assessments , including ACT Aspire results, prove she has been successful in transforming at-risk students into high-performing scholars. The relationships that Emily fosters with her students and fellow teachers result in a trickling effect for improved student acheivement for all.
