VHS Band Weekly Newsletter

2018-2019 Week 8

Band Director Letter

It'll get worse before it gets better.

Everyone's stress levels will be high this week, especially mine. Just know that I care a lot about you all, no matter how much I yell this week. We have a lot of work to do and a little amount of time to do it in.

Our first competition is in 5 days! We will be performing in front of a fleet of judges. We will be in direct competition with Trinity Catholic High school and South Sumter High school in Class 2A. If we work really hard, there's no reason for us to not win 1st place in our class and perform in the finals!

End of Year Trip

EVERYONE must fill out the link below REGARDLESS if you are planning on attending the trip or not. It must be signed by a parent.

Central Floirda Marching Arts Invitational

Our first competition is this Saturday! We need everyone to be focused this next week and a half to guarantee that we perform at our best. Parents and students need to guarantee that everyone will be PRESENT at the practices this week.

This competition has a PRELIMS and FINALS portion. If we win 1st place in our category, we will be automatically included in the Finals. Normally, I wouldn't be concerned, but we are only in direct competition with two other schools, and I believe we have a shot! If we do win 1st, we WILL be participating in Finals. If we don't, we will head home righ after Prelim Awards.

This is a long day, please plan on having cash for concessions. We will be there for lunch and possibly dinner so bring enough accordingly. Students are required to be in groups of no less than THREE (3). Any student(s) in violation of this rule will be required to sit with a chaperone for the rest of the event. This is for your safety!

Meat Sticks

We are continuing to sell Meat Sticks during September. A bag of meat sticks contain 25 and are sold for $1 each. This is an easy fundraiser! Students receive $12 for every bag sold into their student accounts which can help pay for fees, field trips, uniforms, shoes, etc.

Now is the time where we start wrapping up this fundraiser. If you have unwanted meat sticks, bring them back so that you do not get charged for them.

You will receive monthly statements showing what you currently owe for fees, etc. If your account shows a negative amount due, then you are ahead and have a credit. For more information, please contact our Booster Treasurer, Angelia Wood, as treasurer@vanguardhighband.com
