Letter from the Principal
Dear Tualatin Black Bear Families,
We hope this week’s message finds everyone well. The upcoming weeks will be full and there are several things to keep up with as we move through the 4th quarter. Grades 3-5 will have opportunities to complete state assessments, 5th graders will engage in 6 lessons for the new human sexuality unit and all grade levels will be sharing out end of the year activities and celebrations. Keep an eye out for weekly information from our office and from your child’s classroom teacher. Please call our office or contact your child’s teacher with any questions through the end of the year. See important dates to note during the last few weeks.
State Testing- Grades 3rd, 4th & 5th
Please remember to review this message regarding State testing - Dr. Sue’s State testing letter and the Principal’s Testing Letter (English, Spanish) for more details. Opt-Out Form: TTSD 2020-21 State Tests Opt-Out Form. Please contact me with any questions regarding our school’s plan for state testing. 503-431-4800. OPT IN/OPT OUT form is due today, 4/29/21.
Oregon Health Education Standards - Grade 5
The Great Body Shop, published by The Children’s Health Market, is currently being used to teach the new Oregon Health Education Standards. It offers skills-based instruction that addresses physical, social, emotional, and mental health. Human Sexuality Education instruction is age appropriate, medically accurate, and relevant for all students.

End of Year Activities and Celebrations
We will be planning school drive-thrus soon to celebrate everything that students and staff have achieved together this year. These drive thrus will look similar to last year with students and adults staying in their cars as school staff cheer them into summer. Please look for specific details from your child’s teacher soon.

Quarter 3 report cards have been uploaded to Parentvue and are available for parents to access electronically. Hard copies will not be mailed. For instructions to access your child’s, please use the link provided here: ParentVUE Access
PTA Meeting this Week
The PTA has their monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 4th, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Many plans are being made for next year's activities, budgets, and leaders. Please attend and make your voice heard!
Kindergarten and Pre-K Virtual Open House
2021-22 Kindergarten Registration Now Open!
Kindergarten online enrollment for the 2021-22 school year is now open! A child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2021 to enter Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 School year.
Parents/guardians will need the following to complete the enrollment process:
- child's birth certificate,
- Proof of address (current resident electric, gas, or garbage bill, rental/lease agreement or property tax bill)
- immunization record
Go to the Enrollment page to complete the online enrollment process. Please be sure to have the above documents available before you begin the online enrollment.
TTSD Preschool
The Tigard-Tualatin School District, in partnership with Community Action, offers free preschool classes for qualifying families.
Please complete the Preschool Program Interest Form and send the completed form to:
- preschoolinfo@ttsd.k12.or.us or
- deliver to your neighborhood Tigard-Tualatin Elementary School or

Covid testing at Tualatin High School-Based Health Center
The School-based Health Center at Tualatin High can now test symptomatic children ages 2 and older! Parents/Guardians need to make an appointment for their child at the Tualatin SBHC to get tested and will be asked screening questions at that time. The number to call is 503.941.3180.
The Tualatin SBHC is available to all TTSD students and their younger siblings. This COVID testing is free and available daily with a prior appointment made.

Dear Families,
We need your help! Please consider making the garden a part of your children's lives within and outside of school. You can harvest food for your home, weed, compost, mow and otherwise help us maintain this amazing nature space. Sign up with your family to work on our Spring tasks. Art fundraiser for Packed With Pride
Meal Delivery Route has changed
As secondary has returned to hybrid our numbers have gone down for meal delivery. Beginning Monday, April 26 meal bus routes will be reduced from 6 to 5 one cycle routes. Link to new routes is posted on the website.
