Welcome Back Letter
August 7, 2020
Dear LHR Families,
We hope you have had a great summer. We are excited about the 2020-2021 school year and have been busy preparing to make this the best year ever. I am excited to begin my fifth year with Bonham ISD and my first year as the LH Rather Principal. I want to personally welcome our returning students and families as well as those that are new to our campus or community.
We are thrilled about the new staff members joining our LHR family this year. Please help us welcome: Linda Basurto-7th Math Teacher; Leo Chavez-Junior High Band Director; Jasmine Devore-Art (shared with BHS) and Katie Knolton-Inclusion Aide/Learning Lab.

COVID COMMITMENTS
- The health and safety of our students, staff, families and community is our top priority.
- Every decision made by the district will take into consideration the latest guidance and direction from local, state and federal authorities on operational considerations for schools.
- We will provide the highest quality instruction to all students regardless of circumstances.
- We will support the well-being of each student and every program.
- Parents/guardians are expected to screen their children for COVID-19 symptoms each day prior to sending them to school.
- Students in grades 4-12 will be required to wear face coverings (as appropriate) during arrival, dismissal, in hallways, common areas and anytime appropriate social distancing cannot be maintained.
- Visitors will be restricted for those essential to school operations. We highly discourage non-emergency dropoffs(snacks, lunchboxes, instruments, etc.).
- Parents/Families will not be allowed to eat lunch at the school until further notice.
- No food deliveries will be allowed during the school day including breakfast, lunch, and birthday treats until further notice.
TRAFFIC FLOW BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL
Please refer to the map below for information about where students should be dropped off and picked up at LH Rather. Please do not stop in the northbound lane of Main Street to drop off or pick up your child. All students should be dropped off and picked up in front of the awning on the southbound side of Main Street. We appreciate your efforts to help keep our students safe.
HANDBOOKS / DRESS CODE
The BISD Code of Conduct, LHR Parent/Student Handbook, Student Dress Code and School Supply Lists are on (or will soon be on) the school website. Printed copies of these documents are available upon request in the LHR office. Please be familiar with the student dress code to help us be proactive in heading off any compliance issues.
A couple of things to note regarding dress code: shorts/skirts must be longer than fingertip length; pants/jeans must be free from holes and splits above fingertip length unless there is fabric underneath the holes that prevents any visible skin or undergarments; sleeveless shirts must be a minimum of three fingers wide across the top strap; and leggings/jeggings /tights/spandex/yoga pants may only be worn if the shortest point of the shirt/top worn with them is long enough to cover the buttocks and pelvic areas when standing; hoods are not to be worn inside the building.
Please join us on Facebook @lhrather so you are able to receive the latest news and updates about campus happenings. You can also check our web page for news updates and important information. http://lhr.bonhamisd.org/ .
I look forward to a successful year for our students, staff and families. Please feel free to stop by my office or call me at 903-583-7474 any time you have questions or concerns. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Jason Busbey
