Student Drop Off and Pick Up

If you pick up your child at the end of the school day, please either wait in the line for pick up or park and walk in to get your child. We will send children out who have been called by the staff member stationed outside.

If you drop your child off in the morning, please do not get out of your car if you are in the right lane at drop off. If you need to get out of your car, please park in the lot instead. This will keep the flow of traffic moving and is safer for the students.

Thank you for helping this process run more smoothly.

Cold Weather is here!

Like it or not, cold weather has arrived, and it will stick around for a while. Please ensure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather. For Recess, students spend 40 minutes outside, so being prepared is very important. Unless the actual temperature is below 0 or wind chill is below -10 degrees, students go outside for Recess.

If you are in need of cold weather clothing due to a financial need, Resource West is a great non-profit that serves the West metro.

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities that we will be looking for some leadership for the Sping 2020 semester. If you are interested, please email me at ikexx.PTO@Hopkinsschools.org and we can find the right opportunity for you!

Playground Expectations Update

The following are common expectations for recess. When we all have common expectations for our school, it helps our community feel connected and safe.

  • We have a variety of recess equipment outside that students use. We have basketballs, soccer balls, tennis balls, jump ropes, frisbees, etc. We ask that students do not bring any recess equipment from home.

  • We have 3 large areas outside for students to use during recess. We have our court, our playground, and our field. We want to ensure that many students can be safe in every area of our recess area. We are asking that all students playing tag games play on the field, not the playground. This does not impact running. Students may run in any and every area of our recess area.

  • Some students would rather read, write, or draw during recess. For this reason, students may bring a book, notebook and/or pencil to recess with them. All other items should be left at home or in their backpack.

Please ensure that you and your child(ren) are aware of these common expectations. Recess is a great time for students to play, run, and have fun! It is a great time to enjoy friends, learn new games, and socialize. We believe that with these recess expectations, all of our students will stay safe and have fun!
