To help your child do the very best they can on the test, here are some Great Testing Tips!
Be present. Please make sure your child is at school every day and on time for testing. If you must remove your child from school please avoid appointments from 10:00 to 1:00 Monday through Thursday.
Be ready. Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and has a healthy breakfast. Keeping the body and mind in good working order is essential for your child to function at their highest level.
Be Positive. Please help us support us in communicating that testing is important and that they should try their best every day.
Be prepared. Dress in appropriate but comfortable clothing (Still no pajamas), a water bottle, their regular school work and books, and bring a pair of headphones or earbuds but no wireless devices (or use our classroom sets).

P4 Progress Reports Are Now Available
Parents/ Guardians,
- Please check PowerSchool now to view your child's P4 progress reports.
- Also, please continue the good practice of regularly monitoring PowerSchool for your child's daily academic progress and attendance.
- If you have any questions about how to best support your child, please reach out to your child's teacher as soon as possible by email or phone or set up a phone, virtual, or in-person conference.
Middle School Start Time Change for Next Year
2022-23 TUSD Middle School:Start Time = 8:40am & Dismissal Time = 3:16pm
Please save the date for these two schedule changes:
- 5/31/22 (Tues) = Regular Schedule - school begins at 8:02am
- 6/1/22 (Wed) = LATE Start schedule day - school begins at 9:18am
Art Show
Join Casimir’s 2022 Art Show: JOY! Create an original art piece based on the theme JOY, or what makes you happy! All submissions are due Wednesday, May 25 and will be on display for Open House! Show off what brings you JOY!

8th Grade Promotion Speech Tryouts
8th Graders - Promotion speech tryouts are Wednesday, June 1 at 3:15 p.m. in room 63. Get a flyer from your English teacher with more specific information.
Class Spirit Competition
This is the LAST quarter for the class colors competition. Let's keep the spirit going on strong! The winning class will win a Yogurtland party!
The class spirit competition is a close race. Porzio and Lee are in a race for first place. Only TWO FRIDAYS LEFT!
E Sports
6th & 7th graders if you are interested in joining the E Sports team next year and competing in games like Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers & Splitoon, see Mr. George.

TODAY! CombatBot Battle and Lego Obstacle Course Competition

This Saturday! College Fair
There will be a College Fair at Torrance High School on Saturday, May 21st, from 10:00am - 1:00pm.
8th Graders!
The 8th grade Glow in the Dark dance will be on Friday, June 3rd from 6:00 - 9:00 pm in the Casimir Gym. Permission slips to attend the dance must be submitted by Friday, May 27th. Late permission slips will not be accepted.

We created an opportunity for students to publicly acknowledge and recognize one of their peers for demonstrating our Cougar Code in a positive way! Your Cougar Kudos will be shared on the weekly Casimir newsletter.

Wellness Week This Week!
TUSD is celebrating Wellness Week next week to highlight mental health and the resources
available to students within the district and at Casimir. There will be various activities during
lunch, including art activities in the wellness center for Mindful Monday, a healthy cafeteria
option, therapy dogs, and fitness activity on Tasty Tuesday, self-care bingo in the wellness
center on Wellness Wednesday, a positive post-it note activity in the quad and more therapy
dogs on Thankful Thursday, and music and dancing on the black top for Fit Friday. Check out
the flyer below for the "Stop the Stigma" student poster and video contest in which winners will
win cool prizes and their artwork will be displayed. Also, check out the Virtual Wellness
Challenge linked in the calendar below.

Phone Usage
There has been an unacceptable increase in people using their phones against the CMS phone policy. Video and pictures are NEVER allowed and phones are not to be used during class time without teacher permission in or outside of class. Phones will be banned school wide if this continues.

Quick Guide to Reporting Student Absences
Reporting student absences has always been important but even more so now with students back at school with COVID-19 protocols being in place. If/When your student is absent please notify us via email by sending an absence note with the following information to esqueda.jessica@tusd.org
Absence Notes should include:
1. Date
2. Name of your Child
3. Date of absence
4. Reason for absence (if out due to illness please specify what symptoms your child is having)
5. Parent/Guardian Name & Relationship (absence notes can only be accepted from Primary Guardians listed in PowerSchool)
6. Phone Number where you can be reached

Reminder about Dress Code
Reminder - All students must follow the school dress code. In part, shirts must cover the midriff and shoulders, you may not have wallet chains, and baseball caps must be worn forward. Please see your Student Planner for the complete dress code.
Speech and Debate
Speech and Debate will meet every Monday from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m after school in room 63. Please have your parent send an email to Mrs. Stoll (
stoll.julie@tusd.org) or stop by room 63 to get a permission slip, if you would like to join. See you then!
