ILT shared the LSPI

Last Tuesday, Dr. Anderson facilitated a protocol with ILT to see how our LSPI is developed, implemented, and monitored at Suwanee. Your instructional leadership team did a great job sharing with Dr. Anderson how our work is driven by our LSPI (or school wide lesson plan) with specific examples shared by each member of the team! Please take a minute to ask them about this experience because they did a phenomenal job!

Student Supervision

As we adjust to our new Visitor Management System, we need to continue our best practices when supervising students. Please do not allow students to transition to and from the playground without the supervision of an adult. Every time a students is traveling to or from the playground, they are crossing an active parking lot (since we do not lock the side gate during the day). Therefore, please share with your students that this is not permitted for any student at any time due to their safety.

Every employee is expected to secure a substitute for their position. Splitting classes is not desirable for your teammates or students. It is a professional expectation that employees have coverage when they are out of the building. If you have an emergency and a sub does not pick up your request, please call my cell phone directly. My number is listed on the phone tree in C&I. Thank you for going the extra mile for Team Suwanee when you need to be out of the building.

Professional Learning: Thursday, February 18

All staff development will be in the Mind Meld room this week. Teams need to bring the constructed response student work samples. If you have any questions, please email Ms. Dienhart for clarification.

Lesson Study

Last week the 4th grade team participated in a Lesson Study. In reflection, the team discussed the importance of having clear, sequenced learning targets, a clear common mini lesson, and the need to plan a closing for each lesson. In March, we will post footage from this learning experience as a tool for others to see the depth of their work. Currently, their lesson plan (using our common lesson plan template) is posted in C&I Lesson Study folder. Thank you again to our 4th grade team for their professionalism and willingness to engage in a learning experience as a part of refining their work. Great job! Keep it up!

CLT is on Tuesday, February 16 from 3:15-4:30. Ms. Martinez and I look forward to hearing your collaborative conversations focused on analyzing the standards, common mini lessons, common collaborative learning groups, a closing, how you are using e-CLASS, and how you are commonly assessing student performance for the AKS.

Save the Date!

On March 8 from 5:30-7:30 PM, we will host a Parent Learning Night, focused on literacy, numeracy, and e-CLASS sessions for parents. Please save the date and look for a follow up email from the coaches as they work with you all to plan this evening of learning!

Certified Transfer Process

The Transfer Process will begin on 2/29/16 and will end on 3/11/16. All that are eligible to participate in the process will receive a link/button to use if interested. We will be receiving more information on this process but wanted to make you aware of the timeline.
