Helping newly freed slaves one step at a time
Our goal is to help newly freed African Americans get jobs and an education. Since newly freed slaves don't know how to read or write, we need to help them get a start in the world. We don't just help black either. We also help poor farmers get jobs and their children to get an education.
History
We started because we wanted to help people in the south during the aftermath of the Civil War. We have been active since 1851. It was stablished by our president Abraham Lincoln. We are helping the future of the south.
