Jeffreys Grove Magnet Elementary
Dear Jeffreys Grove Families,
We hope you are doing well and enjoying the transition to fall! As we enter the month of October, please make note that our virtual parent/teacher conference window will take place from October 26th to November 23rd. This first conference of the year is an opportunity for parents to share information about their child’s learning style, their needs, and their interests. Your child's teacher will share 1st quarter grades, behavior expectations, and available academic support. Be on the lookout for details from your child's teacher regarding sign ups to attend a virtual or phone conference. Thank you for taking advantage of this collaborative meeting opportunity to support our students.
Appreciatively,
Juli Ventura
Principal

Backpack Buddies
The Backpack Buddies Program is beginning again on Thursday, October 7th. This program provides a bag of non-perishable food items to participating students to take home every Thursday. Each Backpack Buddies bag includes enough food to feed one elementary school child four meals over a weekend. If you are interested in this program for your child, please click this link and complete the permission form.
PTA Corner
Thank you to all the families who joined us on Saturday to support our Scholastic book fair! It’s a wonderful way to get your child excited about reading or to pick out a few things to tuck away for holiday gifts. If you did not have a chance to check it out, we will host afternoon sales in the gym on Tuesday, October 5th and Thursday, October 7 (5 pm - 7 pm). Masks are required. If you can’t make it in-person, feel free to shop the Book Fair online.
Wednesday morning, October 6 is National Walk & Bike to School Day. Skip the carpool line or bus ride and walk/bike with family and friends to school! Please watch for a flyer with all the details in your child’s Monday folder.
While volunteers aren’t allowed in the classrooms/school right now, it is our hope that at some point circumstances allow volunteers again. Volunteers must be approved by WCPSS. In order to do that, you must complete the background check information on the computer in the front office. Please go by the school (not during drop off/pick up hours because those are very busy times for the staff), ring the bell and let the front office staff know you are there to complete the volunteer registration.
Finally, if you volunteered to be a room parent for your child’s classroom, Jackie Vanderbilt (our PTA Room Parent Coordinator) is hosting a Room Parent Training on Wednesday evening at 7 pm on Zoom. Please watch your email for the Zoom meeting invite - if you have any questions, Jackie’s email is: jackie.assal@gmail.com. Thank you to each of you who are serving in this very important role.
