A note from the principal's desk...
I hope that you had an enjoyable holiday weekend and are getting excited for the warmer temperatures in the forecast.
Last week, we saw some great learning opportunities for our kids. Students in Ms. Carter and Mrs. Hazard's class presented Biome Projects at the Lakeshore Museum (their work will be displayed for the next month), we saw some great collaboration in Math and Science classes and this week, some of our 5th graders will begin their "Long Walk To Water" PBL project.
Tomorrow's Self Defense Class with Officer Luce, unfortunately, has to be cancelled.
Have a great week everyone!
Yours in Rocket Pride,
Scott

Sports Physicals
6th graders (our current 5th graders) can participate in Cross Country, Wrestling and Swimming/Dive at the middle school next year.
If your student is a 6th grader now, they must have a physical in order to start a sport.
Physicals must be dated after April 15th of 2022 in order to participate in the 2022-2023 school year.
Here is a great, inexpensive option for you! Physicals on the Fly being offered by local Physician Assistant and RP Parent Kilee Aamodt, PA-C.

OK2SAY
According to Averting Targeted School Violence: A U.S. Secret Service Analysis of Plots Against Schools, dated March 2021, many school attack plots were associated with certain dates, particularly in the month of April. According to the report, some plotters select dates to emulate notorious people or events, including the anniversary of the Columbine attack, Hitler’s birthday, and the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. Others select dates to coincide with the beginning or end of the school year. OK2SAY encourages school personnel to approach this month with extra consideration by reminding students to take every threat of violence seriously.
When students make the courageous decision to speak out against harmful behavior, they equip authorities with the information needed to respond to threats and avert tragedy.
100 Hours Challenge
The Reeths-Puffer Wellness Committee is challenging all staff and students (and families) to participate in 100 hours outdoors in the month of March. This challenge is inspired from 1,000 Hours Outside .
This is an attempt to match nature time with screen time. Children are spending an average of 1200 hours a year on screens. Let's work to encourage spending this time outdoors and shift towards a more productive and healthy outcome. :)
This challenge began on January 1. If you are feeling inspired to try 1,000 hours outdoors, that challenge runs through the end of the calendar year.
