A tsunami is a series of water waves caused by the displacement of a large volume of a body of water, generally an ocean or large volume of a body of water, generally an ocean or a large lake. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other under water explosions,landslides,glacier calvings,meteorite impacts and other disterbances above or below water all have the potential to generate a tsunami.
What Happened During Japans Tsunami?
On March 11, 2011 one of the earths plates slid, causing a 9.0-magnitude earthquake at Sea Rocket Japan.The earthquake caused a massive tsunami with 30 feet waves, destroying over 200,000 homes. There were 15,861 deaths, 6,107 injured and 3,018 missing.
