Benefits of Geothermal Energy

What is Geothermal Energy?
Geothermal energy is the intense heat from Earth's interior that warms the magma. We're going to discuss the benefits of using geothermal energy. Geothermal energy is seen as a new source of power generation by digging out the heat stored inside the Earth and isn't used widely throughout the planet.
Geothermal Power Plant
They have power plants to obtain heat from beneath the Earth.
How It Produces
Water or working fluid is heated (or used directly inane of geothermal dry steam power plants), and then sent through a steam turbine where the thermal energy (heat) is converted to electricity with a generator through a phenomenon called electromagnetic induction.
What It's Used For
Geothermal energy has been used for thousands of years in some countries for cooking and heating.
Advantages
- Geothermal energy generally involves low running costs since it saves 80% costs over fossil fuels and no fuel is used to generate the power.
- It doesn't create any pollution and help in creating clean environment. It does't create any pollution as it releases some gases from deep within the Earth which are not very harmful to the environment.
- They have been used for bathing, heating, home, preparing food and today this is also used for direct heating of homes and offices. This makes it cheaper and affordable.
Geothermal Energy
- Some people say a disadvantage of geothermal energy is that it's not widespread source of energy, unavailability of equipment, staff, infrastructure, and training pose hindrance to the installation of geothermal plants across the globe. I believe one way to fix this problem is training and hiring people who are looking for a job. For an example, the KTC here have representative who have decided to explore renewable resources.
- A disadvantage of geothermal energy is that it's expensive to install power plants and not enough skilled manpower. I believe one way to fix this problem is having donations to pay the expenses and hire people who are highly skilled.
- Another disadvantage is that thermal energy power plants would release poisonous gases and they can escape deep within the Earth, through the holes drilled by the constructor. I believe one way to fix the problem is to contain the poisonous gases with anti-poison gas insulation.
