Seniors represent MRHS at Holocaust Memorial School Presentation
Three of our seniors represented MRHS at the Holocaust Memorial School Presentation on Wednesday - 5/4/16. The girls (pictured above L/R) Grace Fernandes, Maggie O'Donnell and Miriam Massaad read passages and helped light the candles. In the picture with the girls is the featured speaker Ms. Kristin Keese a child survivor of the Holocaust. She is also the author of the book "Shadow s of Survival"
The three girls were selected to read because of their heavy involvement in Human and Civil Rights.
This program is a joint effort of the Monomoy Regional High School, Nauset Middle and High School, and Interfaith groups from Wellfleet to Harwich.
The focus of the evening: A Child of the Holocaust: Remembering the Warsaw Ghetto.
Students Honored
Emma Starkweather and Aleela Rose were honored at the 3rd annual Project Hope reception for their painting Hope is a Waking Dream. Project Hope is sponsored by Child and Family Services. Each year students create large painting illustrating the theme of hope. These are then hung in the offices of the center to inspire the clients.

Happy Teacher's Appreciation Week! **Faculty & Staff gather in our Caf**
Good morning Faculty and Staff,
This week is National Teacher Appreciation Week and an appropriate time for us to share how much we appreciate all you do. At Monomoy, we’ve built a culture that reflects a sense of respect, enthusiasm, pride, hard work, high expectations, inclusiveness and passion.
The adults in our school have successfully created a safe and secure learning community that allows our students to thrive. Our school, thanks to you, has become a home away from home- a place people are genuinely happy to be.
Our growth as a school, and as a school community, has experienced rapid change. The following quote by Robin Sharma is reminiscent of this change, and the challenging process we’ve faced together over the past two years: "change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous in the end"
As administrators, we are honored and blessed to work with such hard working, passionate educators and school staff. Like change, our journey has been hard, it has been messy, but looking back we can all agree that the changes we’ve made together to our school environment will make it gorgeous in the end.
Be Great,
Bill, Janie, Mike & Brendan
Back from our school vacation, two Chinese classes celebrated the spring spirit and the International Worker's Day May 1st! 好好学习,天天上上。Let's work hard, and make progress every day!
Amazing Jenga Game!
Shark "Shout Outs" (SSO's) - MRHS's way of Appreciating the Great People here!
Shark Shout Outs are spreading fast & furious at MRHS. We start every staff meeting with Shout Outs to colleagues and Shout Out to students nominated for student of the month during am announcements. Now, students and Parents are welcome to send in a Shark Shout Out as a token of appreciating other students and staff in the school. Email Mr. Burkhead at bburkhead@monomoy.edu, or drop them off to Ms. Hooper in the main office! The enthusiasm is contagious!
Karley Marchese and Ashleigh Tolley would like to shoutout Ms. Flint, because she is such a great teacher. She is always positive and willing to dedicate her time outside of the classroom to help any students in need. Ms. Flint is always coming up with creative ideas to teach us the materials we need to learn, she really makes learning fun. She uses both hands on and thinking methods to teach in the classroom. Ms. Flint really has a passion for the curriculum in which she teaches, she has a great understanding of everything she talks about. She is very organized and somehow seems to always be calm even in high stress situations. Also, she is empathetic and understanding, she tries as much as she can to understand really what goes on and how she can help.
BIG SHARK SHOUT OUT to Kwon Faith for putting together a delicious spaghetti dinner with fun raffle baskets last Friday! Thank you “shout outs” also to Matt Brown, who not only ate and supported the ninth grade class but also read two of his terrific poems! Thanks also to Sharon Gleason and Rachel Barnes for spending the whole evening with us, and to Angie Chilaka for her support.
Ms. Forte-Doyle
