Crowne Hill Family Newsletter
Volume 24- March 12, 2021
A Message from Mrs. May
Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),
We have happily come to a point in time where we are able to welcome students, teachers, and staff back to on-campus instruction! This is a very exciting time for us and we hope for you as well. Online learning remains an available model for students, so our hope is that families have options that fit some of their needs as we move into this next phase. During the extended school closure period, Crowne Hill Elementary School has welcomed many new students to our school community. This includes students from Rancho Elementary School while it is closed for modernization this current school year. We look forward to meeting all of our βreturning to on-campus instructionβ students very soon!
Once in-person instruction begins on Tuesday, March 16th, it is important to remember that guidelines will continue to require that there are no gatherings, no visitors, and that we implement planned foot traffic patterns. Therefore, parents will need to be prepared with the options:
-say goodbye at the top of the stairs or entrance ramp sidewalk to allow students to walk to their gate independently
-use a designated car drop-off area (top loop or entrance ramp)
-TK and K students have a dedicated access gate which leads directly to their classroom area and parents will need to walk TK and K students to/from this gate. It is located on Old Kent Rd. as it goes down toward the cul de sac and the park. There is no car drop off area for this gate.
-parking in the school parking lot will not be available due to the high number of staff members working on campus; please park on the street if you wish to walk your child to their gate.
Gate entrances are designated by room number and will open approximately 7 minutes before the start of instruction. We will have a posting of room numbers matched to teacher names for reference.
Foot traffic patterns help to maintain distance from others, and our walkways in the front of the school have very narrow points. Please be aware that foot traffic will flow in one direction only. This may result in further distances to reach the gate destination, where the adult will need to continue on to the foot traffic exit. At dismissal time, please be aware that we need to prevent social gatherings in front of the school.
The safety and health of our students and staff remains our highest priority. Wearing masks, keeping 6 ft distance, proper hand washing, and cohort groupings will help this to be a successful return to on-campus instruction. Parent communication with teachers will continue to be phone or email to limit contact. Your patience and understanding throughout this process is greatly appreciated.
