October CES PTA News
2017
FROM THE CES PTA
It was a pleasure to meet so many of you over the Back to School Nights. Thank you to all of you who have joined the PTA and filled out your information to be included in the directory. If you still need to do either, here is the link: Membership & Directory.
Remind is a text service we have piloted this year to let you know of deadlines, meetings, spirit days and other useful information. To sign up open a text message. The number you use is 81010 and type @joinCESPTA in the message section of that text. You will get a confirmation text that you have joined.
Our first Board of Directors PTA meeting will be held at 8 AM on Thursday, October 5th. We meet in the Media Center.
Our Fundraising team is hard at work getting everything ready. Please be on the lookout for a flier to come home. For more information please visit our website: www.ptaces.org. Looking for one or two leaders from each grade to help with tallying fundraising efforts for that grade (about 6 classes). Interested? Contact fundraising@ptaces.org (most can be done from home and during after school hours!!)

Your CES scholars can have a chance to share their talents and get recognition from different levels of the competition: County, State, or even National Level
Parents & students can learn about the program by going to the CES PTA Website:
http://www.ptaces.org/reflections.html

"WITHIN REACH"
Step 2: Students can express their own interpretation of the theme by creating an Original Project in ANY or ALL the Art Categories:

-Film Production
-Literature
-Music Composition
-Photography
-Visual Art
Step 3: Turn in your original creation at school!
Submission of projects will be in November, no later than 11/15/17.

Step 4: Attend the Reflections Program Recognition Ceremony just before the Chorus Concert in December during CES Night of the Arts (date to be set by school staff).
Last year, several Frederick County students advanced to States and a UMS student WON the highest award of Outstanding Interpretation in the National Level!!!

Blessings in a Backpack
nutrition to 1700 children in 13 local schools. The children who benefit from this program depend on Free and Reduce-Price Meals in school, but "What do they do on the weekend?" Adequate nutrition helps children return to school on Monday ready to participate and learn. So how can you become a part of the CES team to help, email Rebecca DeGioia at beccaj72@comcast.net. At this time, we need assistance packing on Thursday AMs and also picking up food from our wonderful suppliers (within Frederick) on Tuesday afternoons.
Box Tops
It is that time of year again when we start collecting Box Tops for Centerville. We have raised over $30,000 since Centerville opened its’ doors. This year our goal is $4,500, that’s over 45,000 Box Tops! We can easily achieve our goal if every student turns in 50 Box Tops! Box Tops offer 3 easy ways to earn cash for our school through everyday activities such as buying groceries, shopping online and signing up on the www.btfe.com website.
CLIP — Clip Box Top coupons from hundreds of participating products and send them to school. Box Tops coupons are worth 10¢ each. Look for double box tops and bonus box tops! Please place box tops in small baggies, preferably in groups of 25, but we will take whatever you can donate!
SHOP — Shop at your favorite online stores through the Box Tops Marketplace
(btfe.com/marketplace). Up to 8% of each qualifying purchase is automatically donated to our school. There is no additional cost to your purchase and many exclusive deals and discounts can be found!
SIGN UP — One of the easiest ways you can help is to sign up to support our school at
www.btfe.com. You will learn about new and easy ways to help our school earn the extra cash it
needs.
