Digital Technology Safety, Privacy and Pedagogy Evening for Parents & Caregivers

On Wednesday, October 24th, a sub group of the Parent Involvement Committee is pleased to provide an evening of information and discussion around Digital Technology Safety, Privacy and Pedagogy. Please see a tentative agenda below. The session will take place from 5:30 – 7:00 in the Maker Space area of École Sir John A Elementary School. 5:35: Alastair MacLeod – LDSB, Manager IT – What is currently in place? Privacy, Firewalls, Cloud security, Search engines, Data mining

5:55: Mistene Clapp – LDSB – What is in the curriculum currently? Digital citizenship for all

6:05: Valerie Hurding – Kingston Police, Community Oriented Response and Enforcement School Resource Officer

6:15: David Murakami Wood – Queen’s University, Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Surveillance Studies. Member of the Surveillance Studies Centre

We Scare Hunger

Our Me to We Committee at Southview is organizing a “We Scare Hunger” campaign where students bring in canned goods or cash donations to go towards our local food bank. “We Scare Hunger” runs from October 22nd until November 2nd. Let's all do our part to ”Scare Hunger” Southview and support our local community!

"Joy" Holiday Catalogue Fundraiser

Our first school-wide fundraising campaign will run from October 15 to October 26. Each family will receive a catalogue called "2018 Joy" and instructions on how to order from the catalogue. This is an ONLINE fundraiser only. Please do not send orders forms, cash or cheques to the school. To order online, you will need to register online using the school/group ID code (7134) and the 7-digit number found at the top left corner of the pink order form that comes with the catalogue. You will also be given options to share the link/code with family and friends so they can shop too! You will have the option to ship to the school or directly to you. We will arrange a date for pick up once the shipment date is confirmed.

Fill in the required information: create your own username and password and then fill in your name and email address

Looking for Lego Donations

If you are purging and looking to get rid of old Lego we would be more than happy to take your donation. We are always looking for more Lego for our Maker Space! Please drop off donations in the front foyer in the marked box!
