The Battle of Bull Run

Last Sunday on July 21, 1861, in Prince William County, Virginia Near the small town of Manassas, not to far from our nations capital, there was a battle between the confederates states of american and the union. Both Sides had about 18,000 untrained soldiers and untrained leaders. The union was a bit slow when positioning themselves and because of that, the confederates had reinforcements arrive by train. After the reinforcements arrived the union stood no chance and had to make an unorganized retreat resulting in the confederates winning the first battle.

Abraham Lincoln Wins Presidency

President Lincoln won his election On November 6, 1860, beating Democrat Stephen A. Douglas, John C. Breckinridge. The main reason for his victory were that the south had two candidates and had their votes split, while the north only had President Lincoln so he got the majority vote, unlike Stephen A. Douglas and, John C. Breckinridge. Because of Lincoln's election many of the southern states have seceded. The future of this issue is unknown but is not looking good.

President Lincoln's Homestead act

on May 20, 1862 President Lincoln signed the Homestead act into a law. For those of you who don't know what the Homestead act is, it's a law that encourages settlers to move West by granting them 160 acres of public land, for them to farm and cultivate on. If you want some western land all you have to do is pay a small filing fee and then live on the land for 5 years and then it's all your. You are the future of the west claim you land before it's too late.

Breaking News!

On January 30, 1892 The Union launched the worlds first ironclad warship the USS Monitor to be used against the confederates. They may have the advantage of defense but this warship will fix that. After we split the south in half we will use the USS Monitor to take out their capital and end the war. The South stands no chance against are far superior Navy.
