It's Mid-Quarter!
We are halfway through first quarter. Progress reports will be printed and sent home with your students on September 8th. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions/concerns. Also, remember that you can always access your child's grades through Schoology at any time. Directions for accessing grades can be found on our school's website.
Bus Information
Please see MCPSS policy regarding bus drop offs below. Students who do not meet the following criteria will be brought back to the school. Please make sure that someone is at the bus stop to meet your student at drop off time.

Our first Open House for this year will be held on Tuesday, September 12th from 4:30 until 6:00. There will be a very important parent meeting for the parents of all 3rd graders from 4:30 – 5:00 to provide information about the Alabama Literacy Act. The meeting will be held in the cafeteria. Grandparents' Luncheon
Our Grandparents' Day luncheon is quickly approaching. The luncheon will be held on Friday, September 15th. Please use the QR code to RSVP to this year's Grandparents' Lunch by Wednesday, September 6th. Specific details for times will be provided soon.
Special Snacks and Birthdays
We do not allow student birthday party celebrations during instructional time. If you would like to send in a special snack on your child's birthday, you must have permission from your child's teacher. Many students have food allergies and we must ensure our students safety.
Tardies and Early Dismissals
Attendance Matters!
- Students arriving after 8:10 a.m. will be marked tardy.
- When tardy, parents must escort the student to the office. The office will issue a tardy pass.
- Early dismissals will be permitted only if a parent or the person identified in the contacts by the parents comes into the school and officially signs the student out.
- Parents or persons listed on the emergency contact must present identification. Parents are encouraged to make all medical and dental appointments after school hours in order for children to receive maximum instructional time.
- Early dismissals are not permitted after 2:00 p.m.

Capturing Kids' Hearts
Each month, you will be provided a newsletter that helps connect what we are doing at KSES and ways for you to incorporate this into your home. This month's theme is "Connect With Heart". We are focusing on empathy and challenging students to make sure that everyone they interact with feels seen, heard and valued. As a family, use the activities in the newsletter to reflect on and understand the needs of others.
