Coat Drive - Sending Warmth Around the Globe
Please help support CVE 1st grade student, and Sunlight Mini Mayor April Carter!! Part of April's Mini Mayor platform was to host a coat drive, so everyone can stay warm!
Consider donating clean, gently used coats, jackets and other cold-weather gear. Drop off bins are located in the office at Cactus Valley Elementary, and also at
Clark's Market, Battlement Mesa, FirstBank and a Your Western Garfield County Chamber of Commerce
April's coat drive will run through mid-February! Thank you for your support!!
Universal meal program continues - Please continue to complete your Free and Reduced lunch forms
We want to remind all of those families with virtual students or students quarantining at home, that we can provide you free breakfasts and lunches as well. Just call your school office by 9 a.m. and we will have a warm lunch waiting for you and breakfast for the next day.
Don’t forget that we are still taking free and reduced lunch applications. These forms are important for many other reasons beyond school lunch. Applications are included in the newsletter. We need your help. If you haven’t already, please take a minute to fill out the forms and return them to your school.
Nutrition Services Shout out to the Highland Elementary Kitchen Crew
This week's shout-out is to the staff at Highland Elementary.
Thirty percent of all breakfasts served daily in our district come out of Highland Elementary.
Yesterday alone, Lisa Reichert and her staff served 203 breakfasts. She delivered them to the classroom, and when the kids got there to start their day, they had a fresh and ready breakfast to start the day off right.
So we want to just thank Lisa and her staff - Joy Covington and Belinda Turner - for starting the day off right for our kids at Highland Elementary.

This week, in collaboration with Garfield County Public Health, Garfield Re-2 began implementing a shortened quarantine period for those exposed to a confirmed case of Covid.
