Learn about the sulfur cycle in a fun interactive way! Guide Soloman the Sulfur Ion through the sulfur cycle and help him find his love, Sally. Age 10+

NOTE: THE MODEL IS A SIMPLIFIED VERSION OF THE SULFUR CYCLE. INTERMEDIATE STAGES ARE NOT SHOWN. THE MAJOR TRANSFERS/TRANSFORMATIONS HOWEVER ARE EMPHASIZED. THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK LOOP OF MORE SULFUR IONS GETTING PUMPED INTO THE ATMOSPHERE WAS HARD TO SHOW AS IT WAS DIFFICULT TO SHOW THE SULFUR IONS INCREASING EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU LOST IN THE FACTORY STAGE USING SCRATCH. ALSO THE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK LOOP OF THE DMS FORM OF SULFUR INCREASING THE OCEAN TEMPERATURE AND THEN DECREASING THE TEMPERATURE BY REFLECTING OFF THE SUN'S LIGHT WAS HARD TO SHOWCASE USING SCRATCH IN THIS GAME; AS A RESULT, IT IS ONLY TOUCHED UPON USING SOLOMAN'S TEXT.

Details

This multi level multi player game demonstrates how sulfur travels through the biogeochemical systems of our earth. Be the main player and control the hero Solomon by using the left, right, up and down keys, or be the opponent and try to stop Solomon from reaching Sally by following the directions in the dialog. Costume changes between each level describes the forms in which sulfur is transferred. Each transformation and action is clearly explained in the text bubbles before each level starts as are positive feedback loops (human interaction and rising sulfur concentration equilibrium) and negative feedback loops (phytoplankton producing excessive DMS).

Troubleshooting/FAQs

-If you are in the atmosphere level and there are no more raindrops, you have probably did not touch the raindrops in time. Remember the raindrops only come once.

-If you lost in the factory level, you are taken back to the atmosphere level with the other sulfur ions intentionally following you. This is not a glitch in the game but is meant to represent positive feedback of humans releasing sulfur into the atmosphere through manufacturing processes.

-Again if the sulfur ions touch you, you are intentionally redirected back to the atmosphere level to represent how the villain has released you into the atmosphere. It is not a glitch.

-If the raindrops touch you when you are in the rocks level, you are intentionally redirected back to the ocean level to represent how the rainwater has run off into the ocean with you. It is not a glitch.

-If you run into anymore problems, simply stop the game and restart it by clicking the green flag.

-If more problems persist, make sure to contact the creators of the game.
