Renaming of the Wilkins School
It was a terrific turnout at the renaming ceremony for the Richard L. Wilkins Elementary School. Many retired educators, students, and community members attended the ceremony. This is an exciting new beginning for our school. Here is a photo of the beautiful tribute to Mr. Wilkins. Mrs. Levesque, Grade 2 teacher, worked for Mr. Wilkins and is included in the photo along with many retired educators.
School Attendance
This year, our school will be awarding students who are here each day, on time, once a month. As research shows, attending school each day is critical to academic and social growth. When students are absent, they miss out on important learning opportunities. We ask that you join us in promoting good attendance practices at school. Research has also shown that when students are chronically truant in the early years it contributes to lack of reading growth and developing poor habits in school. Beginning this year, schools in Massachusetts are rated in their accountability report card for chronic attendance percentiles.
