Principal's Corner
Grand View Elementary Families,
The year is now officially underway. In all classrooms, students are working hard and engaged in meaningful learning activities. Teachers are beginning to implement our new math curriculum, launch project-based learning units, and engaging students in reading and writing. In all areas of the school, we are experiencing the joy of working in a safe and loving environment and feeling pride in our students’ accomplishments. The grit and perseverance your students showed last year is evident in their scores on our Fall Benchmark Assessments. We are excited to see what they can do this year!
Thank you again for everything you do at home to support the success of your students and their school! It is a good time in our history to be a part of the Bruneau Grand View School District.

Classroom Corner
Miss Lehman (Kindergarten/First Grade): It is hard to believe we have already had three weeks of school in kindergarten and first grade! Students are working hard to explore numbers and letters while practicing routines in the classroom! We are learning how to make friends and have fun so that we are able to expand our knowledge together!
Miss Baker (First/Second Grade): 1st and 2nd grade have been hard at work on learning routines and expectations as well as building our class community. In 1st grade for reading we have been focusing on words with short vowel sounds as well as sight words. In math we are learning about adding to 10 by counting on from the bigger number.
Mrs. Meyers (Second Core): The second graders are learning about community and what is in a community. They will be analyzing characters, finding main idea and details, and sequencing stories to help them learn about what a community is. In math, they are working on their fluency to 20 as well as learning how to talk about what they are doing when they solve a problem.
Miss Davis (Third Grade): Third grade is off to a great start! We have been writing realist fiction essays, learning about proper nouns, complete subjects and predicates and making comparisons in reading. In math we have been rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. We have also started our PBL asking the crucial question “how can humans safely explore Mars?” I am excited for an awesome school year!
Mrs. Lawrence (Fourth Grade): The 4th graders have been hard at work reviewing place value and completing different math benchmarks. These benchmarks will show the strengths and the "Not Yet " moments students bring with them to 4th grade. We are also learning about the different character traits that can be found in the characters we are reading about in our Nat Geo books.
Mrs. Malika (Fifth Grade): The fifth graders have been learning about finding volume of rectangular prisms in math, using strategies to multiply multi-digit numbers. In reading, we have been learning about immigration and refugees through multiple sources of texts, comparing the stories and articles with the others we have read. We have also learned about our solar system and the Native Americans during these first few weeks of school.
