Happy New Year!!!
"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." --Harriet Tubman
I hope everyone has had a chance to relax and enjoy some quality time with family and friends over the holiday season. The start of school, after a significant break, always provides a good opportunity to re-establish a focus on learning and a “clean slate”. Don’t dwell on the problems from last year (semester). Start this semester off fresh, reenergized and focused. It provides each and every one of us with an opportunity to hit the reset button. Allow your students an opportunity to return to your classrooms with a clean slate. Be prepared to strengthen the connections you made last semester, make an extra effort to connect with that one student who you haven't quite connected with yet, and celebrate good things. Remember, classroom management is not about having the right rules...it's about having the right relationships.
I am proclaiming 2023 to be a phenomenal year for all of us. We have another opportunity this year to lead our students to success. Failure is NOT an option. If one approach isn’t working, find another way to connect and lead your students to success.
This semester, take a more aggressive approach when it comes to growing all learners. Spend some time in the upcoming weeks reviewing the assessment data for each student from last semester to strategically plan for this semester. Conference with students and parents to share their progess and set goals for continued growth.
Growth is important for not only our students but each of us as well!!
Light a Spark in Your Students
Horace Mann, known as the father of American Education, once said, "The teacher who is attempting to teach without inspiring the pupil with a desire to learn is hammering on cold iron."
What really maters is not so much what students walk away with in their hands, but rather how many sparks are ignited in their hearts. The teacher is the key to successful studens. It's not the content, but the teacher who determines whether students walk away ignited or extinguished. A great teacher can make any content come to life!!! Be enthusiastic and teach like a coach in a huddle motivating your players to have the desire and drive to win the game. Light a spark in each and everyone of your students. Set them aglow with a desire to work harder, love learning, and to be better people.
Be on fire for your students and ignite their passion for learning!!!
