Welcome Back to School

I would like to welcome everyone back to school and extend a warm welcome to all of our new students and their families. The staff and I are looking forward to another exciting year of learning at Parkway. I would also like to extend a special welcome to our new staff members. Throughout the course of the school year, you can expect bi-weekly newsletters from myself and ongoing communication from your student’s classroom teacher, keeping you up to date on what is happening both at Parkway and within the classroom setting. Please help us by communicating with our school staff as well. A good way of staying up to date on both school and district information is by visiting our district website: https://www.glendale.k12.wi.us/ and click on Parkway. We are excited to partner with you this school

year.- Dr. Smith

Ready Set Go Meetings

Our Ready Set Go Meetings and our first 2 days of school were a huge success! We enjoyed interacting with both students and families, cultivating relationships and rapports and setting the groundwork for an amazing school year.
Big picture

Culture Committee

As we start the new school year, our staff has been working tirelessly to build common language around the expectations here at Parkway. We know that when students feel safe and cared for, they are more engaged in the learning. In order for us to build a culture of caring and safety, we decided that we needed a common language for every staff member to use when working through what it might look like, feel like and sound like in every part of our building.

Our Culture Committee decided on five words that we want to focus our conversations with students when talking about behavior and expectations. Below are those five words we are calling our PRIDE:

  • Responsibility

  • Problem Solver

  • Kindness

  • Honesty

  • Perseverance

Throughout this school year, we are going to be doing some specific learning and teaching around these words. We are going to celebrate when we demonstrate them and use them to refocus us if we are struggling to be a positive member of our community. The list below reflects some of the ways that we will carry out our Parkway PRIDE.

School Wide:

  • All school assemblies focusing on one character word a month

  • Morning Announcements with a focus on the character words

Classroom Specific:

  • Daily PRIDE component in our Morning Meetings

  • PRIDE specific language around classroom and school expectations

  • Classroom celebrations for demonstrating the PRIDE

  • Classroom display featuring the PRIDE

The Culture Committee will continue to update families on how we are representing our PRIDE here at Parkway through the Family Panther Press. If you have any questions, you can contact the Associate Principal, Mr. Ryan Kroeger.

Thanks,

Parkway Culture Committee
