Worship Series | The 5 Love Languages

Since 1995, when Gary Chapman wrote the first edition of The Five Love Languages, the ideas of this book have driven millions to seek deeper meaning in every single relationship they have, including with themselves and with God. The question following Christmas every year is, “Now what?” There are lots of answers to this question, but one is, ‘to love as Jesus loved.’ In order to do this, we have to understand the multiple dimensions of love...God’s love for us, our love for others, how others want to be loved, etc. We are using The 5 Love Languages as a springboard into this conversation.

Canned Meat Celebration

Church to Continue Canned Meat Donations During 2021

Thanks to the generosity of our church members, Vista Ridge UMC was able to donate 7,000 canned meat items to the Christian Community Action (CCA) Food Pantry during 2020. The total does not include the thousands of items collected during our Holiday Food Drive at Market Street last fall.

Throughout 2021, the church will continue to support the CCA Food Pantry in a variety of ways, including the donation of canned meat items to help stock the pantry shelves for those needing food assistance.

Canned Meat Donations | Donations are collected year-round, with an emphasis on the second Sunday of the month. Mark your calendar and challenge yourself to donate canned meat each month. All donations directly benefit those living in our community. Leave canned meat donations in the grocery cart in the front of the church at any time.

Volunteer at the CCA Food Pantry | Church members also work at the food pantry the second and fourth Mondays of each month throughout the year. Currently, a team of three assists pantry staff with the distribution of grocery items to the CCA angels.

Loaves and Fishes Ministry | The Loaves and Fishes Team picks up bread and produce donations from local grocery stores on weekday mornings and delivers to the CCA Food Pantry. There is a current need for volunteers, including people who are willing to help regular drivers when they need a substitute.

For more information about becoming involved with the church’s partnership with the CCA Food Pantry, email vrumc@vrumc.org.

Join in Vista Kids Virtual Field Trip on Sunday Afternoon

Congregational Journey Toward Racial Justice

Congregational Journey Toward Racial Justice Orientation on January 26

Racism exists and we as the Body of Christ have the opportunity to stand up against it and create a more just and equitable world for all. Since June, United Against Racism at Vista Ridge UMC has met weekly to learn and to grow so that we can be a part of the solution.

This month, we will begin a partnership with the North Texas Conference to join The Congregational Journey Toward Racial Justice. It is a new process created for local churches to create their own unique “journeys” toward racial justice. Through this process, churches will be invited to build their own teams, assess their congregations, and do transformational work within and outside of their walls.

Mark your calendar for an orientation meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, to learn about this journey and see how you can get involved. The Zoom link will be provided closer to the meeting date.
