Veterans Day Assembly
Special Surprise Recognition for Ms. Pryor, Mrs. Ali and our school
Mr. and Mrs. Diller thanked Ms. Pyror, Mrs. Ali and our entire school for our support of their family, including their son Owen, when Mr. Diller served oversees in Iraq last year! During the 17-18 school year, Ms. Pryor and her students helped to write letters and collect items that were sent to Mr. Diller and other members of his unit. They appreciated these items while serving overseas.
Ms. Pryor was presented us with a flag that was flown in Iraq during Mr. Diller's deployment.
This beautiful gift will be hung in the main hallway!
Thank you to the Diller Family for their gift and thank you to our entire Charlestown Community for the support that you provided to the Diller family last year.
We reminded our students to thank a Veteran for their service during the upcoming three day weekend.
Please look for a story and more photos in the Westerly Sun!
Thank You to Community 2000
Thanks to Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Louzon for writing this grant!
Square One Art Orders are Due next Thursday, 11/15
Box Tops Collection Day is Next Thursday, 11/15
Harvest Food Drive Continues through November 16th!
Bottled Water at Lunch
Cups are provided for students who prefer not to drink milk.
We have new water filling stations that filter the water in the hallways, donated by the PTO (thank you!)
Lactaid Milk can be ordered for students with a medically documented milk allergy. Please contact our school nurse, Mrs. Coulson if this is needed for your child.
Students are allowed and encouraged to bring their reusable water bottles to lunch if they are drinking water with their lunch. They can be left on the shelves in the hallway if they have recess before lunch.
School Lunch Orders
Our Chartwells Staff members, Miss Sam and Miss Peggy, are very accommodating to our students. They typically make 5-7 extra meals each day in anticipation that some students might forget to order or will want a different food choice when they see what they originally ordered. In the rare instances when students can't get what they prefer or when their order was recorded incorrectly, students are offered an array of available alternatives. Sam and Peggy want our students to be happy with their meal choice.
Please make sure that your child orders lunch in the morning if they are getting hot lunch.
It is also helpful for parents to have a conversation with their child each morning regarding which choice they are ordering, such as pizza or nachos.
If your child comes home upset regarding a lunch order mix up, please contact me directly.
We can't make our school even better without your important feedback!!!

WE'RE RIDE COMMENDED !!!
Only 28 public schools in RI are Commended, and only 18 elementary schools.
Commended Schools are the schools that are the highest performing in the state. We have worked hard as a learning community to achieve Commended Status again and we are proud of this accomplishment!
Last Spring, our 3rd and 4th graders participated in RICAS testing. We were impressed with the effort of our students during the four days of testing. RICAS results have been delayed. We are hopeful that we will retain our Commended Status.
