It is very volcanic. it has lava lakes, lava flows, calderas, and has geysers.It has a iron core. Io has a thin rocky crust. io has a smooth and changing surface because of lava flowing in to craters and filling them.

Io was discovered on January 7,1610. The discover was Galileo. It proved everything did not revolve around Earth. The average temperature on Io is -142 C. It orbital and rotation is period 1.76 days. Io is 421,600 km from Jupiter. It is slightly bigger than Earth's moon.
