GMS Student Wins County Oration Competition
On May 20th Heather Herndon won the All County Oration contest. What is an oration? Well, it is when a person gives a speech to a line of judges and then they are ranked for their performance and effectiveness. Eighth grader Heather won Glenridge's school level competition and advanced to the county competition and that is where she blew the judges away with her speech and earned FIRST PLACE. The topic this year was "The Importance of Living a Healthy Lifestyle." Heather chose the topic of the danger of fast food because she firmly believes fast food can hurt not only your physical strength but also your mental strength. She reports coming up with the topic was easy because she lives a healthy lifestyle and gives her parents credit for helping her develop those great habits. What's next for Heather? She will advance to the Grand Championship of Oration Contests and compete against all the finalists from Orange County at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center on Thursday, May 29th. Good luck, Heather!

The Annie Experience
Sold Out Shows at Glenridge
If you were around GMS last weekend, you might have seen the packed lines forming outside of the MPR. That is because the Feral Cat Theatre (aka Glenridge Drama) was presenting the musical ANNIE on Friday and Saturday nights. Both shows were sold out and the audiences were amazed at the talent, the sets, the singing, the dancing....everything!
We are getting all the photos together and completing interviews of the actors. Next week we will release The Annie Experience. Be on the lookout!
