Seek Perfection...Capture Excellence

Seeing the End of the Tunnel

Even though summer is just around the corner, the work and learning hasn't slowed down! We know that students (and teachers) are getting excited about the upcoming summer but there are so many awesome things happening around the district. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to Frenship ISD! There is a nice vacation waiting for you but let's finish strong!

Secondgraders "Mystery Skype"

Second graders from Willow Bend, North Ridge, Westwind, and Oak Ridge Elementary Schools have been sharpening their social studies skills this semester by participating in Mystery Skypes with an out-of-state school district. The students have been studying the geography of the United States, while also developing their map skills, as their classes compete with the partner school district’s classes to see who can identify the state where each school is located. At the end of the Skypes, Frenship students get the opportunity to share what life is like in Texas with their new friends from all the way across the country. Students from both districts have had a blast cheering each other on in the competition. A special thanks goes to the teachers and media specialists involved in making this exciting collaborative learning experience possible!

STAAR Playlists

Fifth Grade math teachers Laura Carter and Wendy Reeves have been using Playlists in their classrooms at Upland Heights for two years. They coined the term “Playlist” to represent a choice board they created to help engage students in their classrooms. For their STAAR review this year, they created a Playlist based on low performing standards from their TEK check. Students chose activities based on their individual SWAG reports. While students were working on their Playlist items, the teachers were able to pull small groups for intervention. There were also opportunities for enrichment for higher performing students during this time.

Escape from Planet Emoji

Willow Bend fifth graders worked collaboratively to escape from Planet Emoji. They used their reading skills and teamwork to meet the challenge!
