PBIS Family Update
At Muskego Lakes...we have
MUSKY P.R.I.D.E
Promoting...
Respect - acting in a way that shows that you care about others’ feelings and well-being
Integrity -acting with honor by doing the right thing even when no one is looking
Determination - showing that you are trying your hardest and persevering when faced with challenges.
Engagement- feeling part of the community, and having voice and choice as a learner
Biweekly, we focus and review parts of the PRIDE matrix as a whole school. We review these behavioral expectations and skills during morning announcements, as well as in individual classes.
February 11-22 PRIDE matrix focus was under Determination: Be a Scholar.
Determination focuses on the importance of students trying their hardest and persevering through challenges. Being determined and being a scholar means that students are independently seeking out and using their resources when needed. Examples may include looking up information using the textbook, notebook, or Chromebook, or seeking help from others when needed.
February 25-March 8 PRIDE matrix focus is under Integrity: Be a Scholar.
Integrity focuses on doing the right thing, even when no one else is looking. Having integrity while being a scholar means students are academically and mentally prepared for their day and students are always doing their best. Examples may include bringing all needed supplies to class, having homework complete on time, and putting forth best effort.
Quarter 2 Celebration Day
On February 14th, MLMS students on Honor Level 1 had the opportunity to attend our Quarter 2 Celebration Day for snow-tubing. A great time was had by all as they celebrated their academic and behavioral successes and bonded with their teachers and peers. Our next Celebration Day will take place on April 18th. Activities TBA.
Effective Behavior Management Tip of the Month
Being explicit by using consistent language provides predictability for your child, and tends to curb behavior before the next level of consequence is needed. Here is a script used at MLMS that you may want to try. Substitute the underlined phrases for what works for your situation.
If your child is following the expectation, thank your child for following the expectations that you have given. Reinforcing desired behaviors increases the likelihood that those behaviors will be repeated.
If your child is not following the expectation, give them a verbal warning by saying: “Name, this is your warning. I need you to restate the expectation. Next is a reminder of what will happen next as a result of not following the expectation again.”
If your child is still not following the expectations, use the same script as above and go through your household consequence system as needed: “Name, state consequence, restate the expectation, remind what will happen next as a result of not following the expectation again”

8th Grade Celebration Planning
Planning is underway for the 8th Grade Completion Ceremony and associated events taking place on Thursday, June 13, 2019. Thanks to everyone who was able to attend the first meeting. Sub-committees are being formed to help coordinate the various activities scheduled throughout the day including a special breakfast, slideshow, t-shirts, ceremony, dance and post-dance party. The theme of the celebration will be chosen by the class, but first…we need your help!
**Submit your theme ideas to the email address below before the next meeting where we will narrow the list to a few options to be presented to the students for a vote.**
Please join us at our next meeting to learn more about the various opportunities to help. Whether you're looking to assist with planning, coordinating or just volunteering that day, we hope to see you there.
