Color Run Week is Here!
The Sheds have arrived
Thank you to our amazing school community that has helped us raise funds during previous years Color Runs for new sheds. Being a small school means that storage is limited. Through the generous contributions of our community, we were able to replace both storage sheds in the back of the school. This years Color Run will help us raise funds for continued improvements at Surfside.
Fancy Nancy - 3rd Grade Presentation
Good evening, Third Grade Families,
We are excited for the Fancy Nancy presentation on Monday, February 14, 2022. The program will begin at 8:45am. Doors will open just before 8:45am, as it will take us a little bit to get the cafeteria cleaned up from breakfast. All guests must sign-in in the front office on Monday morning. We will begin signing families in as early as 7:45am. We will ask everyone to then wait patiently outside of the cafeteria doors on the front Surfside lawn. Please know that it will take some time to check everyone in, so please plan accordingly.
We look forward to celebrating our third grade students. Thank you for your patience as we work to get everyone signed in, the cafeteria cleaned and our kids ready to perform.
Respectfully,
The Surfside Team

Florida Standards Assessment
What can parents do to help prepare students?
Here are some strategies on how parents can help prepare their children whether they are in a tested grade level or not.
1. Prioritize attendance.
Students are assessed on their ability to show they have mastered the standards and skills the teachers have taught. However, they need to be in school and have plenty of practice and feedback in order to demonstrate this.
2. Prioritize homework.
If your child has homework be sure you look it over. Even if there is no written homework, students should read for 20 minutes each night. Make time for reading and ask questions about their book. Listen to your child read or share a book with them. In addition, Students in primary grades can practice learning addition and subtraction facts and in the intermediate grades they should know their multiplication facts with automaticity.
As FSA gets closer, talk about testing, but keep it in perspective. Remind students their teacher has prepared them well, and they are ready. Students are working all year and demonstrating what they know and can do. As parents, if you stay positive and tell your child you’re proud of their effort that is what matters. If you have any questions about testing, reach out to Mrs. Seibert at 773-2818.
Arrival Reminders
The first bell rings at 8:00. At that time, classroom doors open. It is imperative that students be in class and ready to learn by 8:15. Students who are not in the classroom by 8:15 are considered tardy.
Our car loop is very busy in the mornings with students arriving to school. To make the car loop more efficient, we are asking that students are dropped off at the next gate available and not just by their grade level hallways. This will allow cars to pull up to the next gate instead of having gaps in car line. The tardy bell rings at 8:15 and students are expected to be in their classrooms when the bell rings. Please help your student by making sure that they arrive on campus with time to get to class or to acquire breakfast if needed. We appreciate your help.
