K-6 Health Curriculum: A.T.O.D.
Dear Parents/Guardians:
As part of the Central Bucks School District Elementary Health Curriculum, a unit entitled Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs is taught to pupils in grades K-6. The primary purpose of this program is to educate the children on the negative impacts of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs, as well as the impact of negative peer influences.
Your child’s teacher will teach researched-based lessons developed by Central Bucks teachers and certified school nurses. In order to deliver a consistent, cohesive curriculum, all Central Bucks teachers will deliver this curriculum during Red Ribbon Week, October 17, 2022-October 28, 2022. Course level goals and objectives can be found on the school district’s website: http://www.cbsd.org/Page/1497
Should parents wish to have their child excused from the program, they should send a written request to the attention of the principal.
As always, please do not hesitate to call with any questions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Croyle
Cereal Box Dropoff #1
10/22 from 9-11am
Please drop items off at 2075 Buckingham Drive in Jamison (development off of Guinea Ln. and Almshouse Rd.) on 10/22 from 9-11am. HSA members will be there to collect and record teacher totals. If you are dropping off for a friend or neighbor, please make sure you know the classroom teacher so we can enter it in the competition!
Remember this is going to be an awesome school wide event so please consider donating (flyer with all the details has been sent in communications). We are looking for standard cereal boxes (no jumbo or family sizes please) with an expiration date after March 2023 please. Our goal is 6,500 boxes to beat the record! We realize 10 boxes/student is a lot, but it is just a goal and we hope to continue to have more community support. Thank you to the families and companies that have given some donations already for this event!
If you have any questions or issues with that date and time, please email Tara Schmucker at taraschmucker@gmail.com
Dropoff #2 is tentatively scheduled for 12/17 at Jamison.

Halloween Parade
Parents are cordially invited to attend Jamison Elementary School’s Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31st. Students (Grades 1-6 and AMK) will begin circulating the playground at 9:10AM. The parade will begin at 9:15AM. You may observe the parade from the playground area just outside of the cafeteria. In the event of rain, please check your e-mail or the website for updated information. Parking is quite limited, so you may want to carpool or walk.
- Please avoid parking in the bus loading area if you will be assisting with a classroom party following the parade.
Our PM Kindergartners will have their parade indoors on Friday, 10/28 at 2:30pm. Visitors may enter the building and watch from the main hallway as the students circulate the building as they receive cheers from the other students lining the hallway.
Costumes:
Please help your child to exercise good judgment when selecting a Halloween costume. Costumes with a violent theme should be avoided. Weapons or accessories that could present a danger to others, even as “part of the costume,” are prohibited. Your child should bring their costume in a bag marked with his/her name on it and he/she will change into it before the parade.
When in costume, students must have clear visibility and costume length should be in accordance with your child’s height. Many children will be walking down the stairs in costume for the parade.
Classroom Party:
Your child's teacher will communicate their classroom party details.
We appreciate your cooperation and patience on this eventful day, and look forward to seeing you.

1:1 Device Fee Reminder
If you have a student in grades 3-6 and have not paid their device fee, please read the information below. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office.
Steps for Families:
Enroll online and pay a usage fee. The usage fee covers the at-home and in-school use of a device, a charger, and insurance for accidental breaks. Elementary students in grades 3-6 will pay $15 a year.
Who has to pay the fee?
All students in grades 3-6, 7, 10, 12+, and new families* must complete the steps below as soon as possible.
What steps does a family need to take prior to device handout?
- All families in grades 3-12 should visit: https://www.cbsd.org/1to1
- Parent/Guardian and Student will click on and read the 1:1 Handbook.
- Parent/Guardian signs the user agreement and pays* the user fee via MyPaymentsPlus (MPP). Upon submitting the fee and MPP agreement, you are confirming that you have reviewed the information with your child.
The Fee Table:
*Please note that the fee is reduced for families who are economically disadvantaged and have completed the Free and Reduced Lunch application. You will see the balance as $0 when entering MPP. All families still need to complete steps 1-3 even if the balance is $0. If your family is experiencing a financial hardship and you cannot afford this fee, please reach out to our office.
**If you were not given a bag last year, the school can provide one for you. Students in grade 3 will receive a new bag this year.
Below are the options that are available for the device fee:
1. Pay the fee.
2. If you cannot afford the fee due to economic reasons, contact our office.
3. You can opt out of the program. Please let us know if you choose this option. Your child will return their device to school, and it will be stored at Jamison. Your child will be able to use the device on days that they are in school.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
