1. Outdoor Education
Our sixth grade students will be participating in Outdoor Education between February 21 through February 25. 6th grade families, please be sure to pick up your students at 8:00 pm at Parkland on the day they are assigned to participate in the Outdoor Education trip. 2. Spirit Day on Tuesday, February 22 "Twos-Day"
SGA is sponsoring a Spirit Day on Twos-Day, February 22, 2022. Students can participate by wearing a tu-tu, tie-dye, and/or tennis shoes.

We will have a party at the end of the day on Friday, March 4 where we celebrate the end of the 2nd quarter and all of our honor roll and Straight A students!
2. Parkland Boys & Girls Soccer Tryouts start on March 8
7th and 8th grade students interested in trying out can find more information below. There will also be an information meeting on Wednesday, February 23.

Join Parkland FTC Junior Robotics!
Is your child interested in learning to build and/or program a robot? Applications for FTC Junior (the no-competition spring season of FTC Robotics) are available on Ms. Reitman's door in room 1020. The club meets on Tuesdays 3 - 5, (but students can take the activity bus home at 4:15 if they need). Students can come by and pick up an application before school, at lunch or after school. Applications and teacher recommendations are due back by March 3.

Attention 7th and 8th Graders Interested in Soccer Tryouts!
Registration for the upcoming middle school athletics spring season (boys’ and girls’ soccer) will be submitted through the ParentVue Portal, opening on February 7, 2022. Students should complete their pre-participation physical (MCPS Form SR-8) so that the medical eligibility form (last page of SR-8) is ready for online submission via the ParentVue Portal, prior to tryouts/practices. This form is valid for two years from the date of the exam and covers participation for all sports within that time period. This form must be completed and/or on file before a student-athlete can participate. All physicals must include the COVID-19 supplemental information, attached to the pre-participation physical (MCPS Form SR-8) In addition, students must complete their second shot or submit an approved exemption no later than February 22, 2022, before a student-athlete can participate. Proof of vaccination must be ready for online submission via the ParentVue Portal, prior to tryouts/practices. Spring sports tryouts/practices begin March 8, 2022.

1. Montgomery Can Code
MONTGOMERY CAN CODE CLUB: FREE AFTER SCHOOL CODING CLUB FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS!
In partnership with Montgomery College and the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation, MCPS is offering FREE “all-virtual” virtual six (6) week coding clubs designed as a one and a half (1.5) hour experience that will meet twice a week after school. All clubs will meet, beginning the week of March 14, 2022 and will run through April 29, 2022. Students in the camps will receive a loaner MPCS iPad and learn to code with Swift, Apple’s easy-to-learn programming language and engage in a fun competition. 2. SSL Hours Opportunities
Students in this program will be guided towards meaningful service-learning and help them to clarify how they can best help their communities. Students can also earn SSL hours through this program.
Dates: From February 10th to March 22nd
Day and Time: Thursdays from 3:15pm - 4:15pm
