Virtual Learning Week 1 in Review
First off, I would like to thank our entire staff for all of their efforts in shifting completely to Virtual Teaching. This has been a huge undertaking and lots of learning has taken place.
Eastin has been hugely successful in getting almost 100% participation during our first week of Virtual Learning. This has been a community effort including our office staff and technology department ensuring Chromebooks were picked up by all families who needed them. Our teaching staff who has reached out to every students' family if they had not been able to connect to students. Our parents who have come to school in a very orderly fashion to pick up Chromebooks for their students. Our entire community has played an instrumental role in ensuring all Eastin students continue to learn for the remainder of this school year!
There have been a few bumps along the way, however, working together, we are getting these sorted out. Please keep a look out for a survey from NHUSD by the end of next week.
I know there are a lot of questions about how to retrieve items from the school site. At this point, the school site is closed to students and parents. As a district, working closely with shelter-in-place orders as well as social distancing guidelines, we are working on a plan for retrieval of personal items prior to the end of the year. I will share information once it has been finalized.
There is a lot of information in this update, so thank you in advance for reading through to the bottom!

School News App
Dear Eastin Community,
We will start to use the School News app by Edlio, an activity feed for consuming alerts, news, and events for participating schools. It’s a simple way to view the school’s news feeds and calendars, and also receive push notifications directly from us.
It’s free to download to your iOS or Android phone and quick to set up:
- Go to the App Store or Google Play and search for “School News by Edlio” to install.
- Open the app and search for the school; tap “Add School.” If you have kids in other Edlio-powered schools, add them to the app too.
- Enable push notification by going to the Alerts tab and tapping “Enable Notifications.”
All of the news and events posted to our website are posted here for easy access. You can also add multiple Edlio-powered schools and/or districts to gather all news, events, and alerts in this one app. We’ll send push notifications out to keep you updated on urgent news.
