This Week's Important Announcements and Updates
Food Deliveries are Not Accepted at BHS
Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,
Recently, there has been an increase in students having food delivered to campus via food delivery services, such as Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc. They are asking deliverers to come to remote areas of campus and pass food through the gates. We do not allow this for safety purposes.
Per the BUSD Board of Education, food may not be delivered to campuses.
The following consequences will be enforced:
1. 1st offense: Food will be confiscated and student may pick up the food after school. Student receives a warning.
2. 2nd offense: Same as above, but food may not be returned and student will receive a detention.
3. 3rd and subsequent offenses: Same as 2nd offense and student receives Saturday School. Parent meeting will be scheduled.
In addition, we ask that parents please do not pass any items whatsoever through BHS gates. Please go through the main office to drop off items to students. Again, this is important to student and campus safety, as we do not know what is being passed through gates and by whom.
Thank you for helping us keep all students safe! (And remember--lunch items are FREE in the cafeteria to all students, and we have many options from which to choose from.)
Great Things Happening at BHS!
Way to Go, Irene!
Senior Irene Abramyan placed 6th at this weekend's CIF Southern Section individual wrestling finals held at Canyon Springs High School. She knocked out the #8, #5, and #4 ranked girls in the section, and she has qualified for next Saturday's CIF Masters Meet taking place at Palm Springs High School. She is the only high school winter sport athlete in the city of Burbank whose post season is still alive!! If she places in the top 8 at next week's tournament, she will move on to the final round of State.
We are so proud of her and this incredible, historical accomplishment for the program.
Irene is the ONLY wrestler in the entire program with perfect attendance for every, single, practice…since June. Her success is no accident. Good luck at CIF Masters, Irene!

Maha Shivrati--February 18, 2023
from https://publicholidays.in/maha-shivaratri/
Maha Shivaratri is a festival of worship of the Hindu god Shiva, along with his wife Parvati, the “mother goddess”.
This holiday is celebrated throughout India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and other parts of the world with a significant Hindu population.
The festival is held in February or March on the Gregorian calendar. On the Hindu calendar, it comes on 13th night and 14th day of the month Phalguna, which is the day that Shiva is said to have called his “favorite day of the year.” Of the twelve Shivaratri festivals held during the Hindu year, Maha Shivaratri is consider to be the holiest by Hindus.
“Shivaratri” means “the great night of Shiva,” which name refers to the all-night worship vigil kept up by Shiva devotees on the 13th of Phalguna. This differs from most Hindu festivals, which are observed in the daytime. Prayers and worship of Shiva through the night are supposed to commemorate the time Shiva “saved the world from ignorance,” which is symbolized by darkness.
On the 14th of Phalguna, Hindus fast all day long. They also offer flowers, betel tree leaves, and fruits to Shiva. They also offer incense, light ceremonial lamps, take holy-water baths in the Ganges or elsewhere, engage in Yoga meditation, and chant the mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” all day long.
At temples throughout India, devotees shout out “Hail Shiva!” amid ringing temple bells and, after circling Shiva’s statue, pour water or milk on top of it. Finally, they also receive three lines of “holy ash” on their foreheads to symbolize purity, knowledge, and penance.
