· Creates a learning environment beyond the four walls of your classroom.
· Perfect for continuing instruction and learning during snow days, testing, and for students with an extended absence.
· Easy to access within our RCS Office 365 account.
· Allows for easy teacher and student collaboration.
· Alternative to sharing documents and files
· Gives an online option for submitting/grading student work.
· Lessons are stored and can be easily updated from year to year.
Description
The OneNote Class Notebook app lets a teacher quickly set up a personal workspace for every student, a content library for handouts, and a collaboration space for lessons and creative activities, all within one powerful notebook. The new free Class Notebook add-in for the OneNote desktop (2013 or 2016) is designed to help teachers save time and be even more efficient with their Class Notebooks. The add-in includes page and section distribution and quick review of student work. **Beginning OneNote training is a prerequisite for this session.

· Create a new class notebook using the OneNote Class Notebook
· Add new students to an existing notebook
· Add new teachers to an existing notebook
· Learn how to access the links for your existing notebooks easily
· Describe the uses for Class Notebook
Success Criteria
· Participants can locate and access a Class Notebook
· Participants can add new students to the Class Notebook
Participants can add feedback using audio, video, drawing tools, or other advanced optionsTask 1: Class Notebook Tour Student View
· Go to the Office 365 App launcher
· Select the OneNote App
· Locate the Class Notebook that is Shared with Me
· Review and explain the three parts of the class notebook like Collaboration Space, Content Library and Student Notebook
· Review the content library in this notebook
· Discuss as a group
Task 2: Student View of Collaboration Space
· Under the Collaboration Space tab link of the “class discussion” tab
· Each participant will now create a new page and rename it with their name
· Use this page to list the sections and pages they plan to create in the content library for their class notebook
· Discuss as a group
·Now under the collaboration tab --find the Goals page
· type your goals for using Class Notebook with students
o What ideas do you have?
· Review the s how to lock the collaboration space and why this is important (digital citizenship)
o Select Class Notebook App from the App launcher
o Select Manage notebooks
o Notice the list of notebooks and the option to Lock Collaboration Space
o Notice the link to share with others. If the notebook has been shared with the user, they can open it with this link
o Sections can also be managed here (can’t delete sections)
Task 3: Student View Individual Section
· Keeping their goals in mind, navigate to their individual section
· Discuss the importance of the sections under the individual section
o Very Important!
§ Created when setup and cannot mass delete
§ Must go to each student tab to delete a section
§ Sections can be sent using the Class Notebook Add-In
· Discuss the sections they want for the individual student sections
· Kaitlin or Kim will walk teachers through copying from the content library and pasting in their individual section and through copying a PDF from the content library, pasting into individual section and then setting it as background/page template so students can type on top of it.
Task 4: Presenter Demo of Class Notebook Add-In Tools- Working on this section
Presenter will:
Distribute a page to an individual
· Distribute a page to a group
· Distribute cross notebook
· Distribute a new section
· Distribute a new section group
· Discuss Distribute Content Library
· Review Student Work
o Demo how to do this cross notebook (several classes)
· Manage Notebooks
o Enable Teacher Only section group (demo)
o Adding new students
o Removing students (this doesn’t delete their work/only removes access)
Task 5: Install the Class Notebook Add-in
· Select the Class Notebook App from the App launcher
· Select the Download the Class Notebook Add-in
· Installed OneNote must be closed for the add-in to be installed
· Run the file and install the Class Notebook add-in
*This must be completed on each computer
Task 6: Participants Create a Class Notebook
- Select the Class Notebook App from the App launcher
- Select Create a class notebook
- Select a name for the notebook
- Examples: Biology Mrs. Brown
· Notice the three area of the class notebook and the permissions
· Optional- add co-teacher or select next
· Optional- add students or select next
o Participants may want to add a teacher in training as a student
· Create sections
· Walk teachers through opening Class Notebook in the installed App and looking at differences and the tools that are only there such as drawing and audio recording in the installed version.
