Market Day
5th graders created or brought items to sell, or trade at Market Days.
The students were beaming as they told me the things that they made. Very creative students.
Fun was had by students and volunteers.
Mileage Club:
Mileage club is off and running. Students are earning tokens for their necklaces. Some of the students have completed 25 laps and more. Parents feel free to volunteer to support this activity during lunch recess. Thanks to all the parents that have made it a success the past two weeks.
Art to Remember
We still have a lot of art work which has not been picked up. Please look out for artwork coming home with your student.
Approved Volunteers
Please pass on this information to anyone you may know (grandparents, aunts, uncles etc.) who would like to volunteer at VV.
Parent volunteers are always welcome, and you just need to
sign in at the office and turn in your keys, we will need to make a copy of your ID or License on your first visit on campus.
If you have aunts, uncles, friends or grandparents that are not custodial parents, they will need to fill out a volunteer application, click on the link below.
They will also need to obtain a fingerprint clearance card. We
will then check 3 references, the paperwork will be sent to
our Human Resources Department where they will forward it for Governing Board approval. Once approved you will be able to volunteer here at Ventana Vista. These procedures are only for friends, and non-custodial family members.
We appreciate your time and willingness to help!
Family Engagement
Family Teacher Teams
All our students have access to Math IXL this year to help build math skills and understanding! For FTTs, all grades have chosen to use Math IXL for their grade level goal (with the exception of 2nd grade, which will be focusing on spelling words. All 2nd graders still have access to Math IXL).
Please help us work toward improving our students' math skills this year by having your child spend some time during the week working in Math IXL outside of school. Log in instructions are below.
To log in to Math IXL with a Clever QR code: Go to Clever.com (click 'Log in as a student' if you're on the homepage), and then scan the Clever QR code provided in your FTT folder (K,1st, 3rd). Once logged in to Clever, click the green IXL button.
To log in to Math IXL without a Clever QR Code: log in to your student's school account (username & password can be found in ParentVue), then go to Clever.com. You'll either be logged in automatically or you'll need to click 'Log in as a student', then 'Log in with Google'. Once in Clever, click the green IXL button.
If you have questions about Math IXL or Family Teacher Teams, please contact abacalia@cfsd16.org.
Spanish Corner
¡Hola amigos!
Espero que esten bien. I hope you are all well.
You may have heard of this famous healing rhyme involving a frog's tail that (legend has it ) can pretty much cure any child's ailment. "Sana, Sana, colita de rana". When translated it means, “heal, heal, little frog’s tail.” This expression is commonly used to offer consolation when a child has gotten hurt. The phrase continues, "si no sanas hoy sanarás mañana," if you don’t heal today, you will heal tomorrow. At its core, this message is meant to offer encouragement: While we may be suffering today, things will get better tomorrow. Learning Spanish as a family is the best way to learn a language!
Nick Jr. Canticos offers another great bilingual song using this rhyme: Sana, Sana, Colita De Rana (bilingual)
Here is a beautiful acoustic version created by Mariano Pose of Pez al Revez from Argentina. It is a fun version for children who cannot wait to heal until tomorrow, "Para los niños impacientes." Sana Sana Colita De Rana por Pez al Revez (Spanish)
