Earthquake PBL
The earthquake PBL was mainly about teaching earthquake safety. It teaches you how to prepare for future earthquakes, and important safety tips/suggestions. It also talks about earthquakes themselves and how they form. This PBL's purpose is to inform you about the dangers, and advances you need to make in an emergency earthquake. Many important facts about earthquake safety are in this PBL, especially things you need to know about your own home. If you ever come across an earthquake, this earthquake PBL will teach you everything you should know during an earthquake! Driving Question~ How can we, as structural engineers, construct a two story house in California for Tony Stark that will withstand seismic activity? Our design for Tony Stark is very clever. We made a criss crossed roof patter, as well as a "V" formation pattern. The walls were made of popsicle sticks and the roof was made from toothpicks. We also used a smart trick of cutting slits in the straws and shoving popsicle sticks into the cuts. We then reinforced any loose parts with clay. The main points that I learned throughout this project is how to be safe during emergencies. I learned many different tips and suggestions my family and I should make. For example, keeping non-perishable food and bottled water in a water proof box is a great idea. You never know when a disaster might strike, so I should always be cautious and prepared for anything.
30 Hands Project
From the 30 Hands project, I learned many things about non renewable and renewable sources, greenhouse effect, climate change, and so much more. Ive learned that greenhouse gases come from natural and human pollution. Something that I enjoyed about the project is the recording. I like recording and using piccollage for my projects because its very satisfying and neat. I also liked researching for my project because i get to learn more about it
Invention Convention
The enviromental problem I am solving is lack of polliantion. Bees are dying out and if food crops cannot get pollinated, we havo no food source! Thats why The Poly helps self pollinate instead of bees. If bees cant get to a flower, the Poly will. Bees pollinate over 90% of the world's food source, and without them we would be in big trouble. The poly solves it by using solar energy. The solar energy is transferred to a battery and then its used to power the genreator and work the machine out. There is also a distance input to aim accuratley to the flower.
