We Are Hawks!
April 14, 2023
Irons Family,
Wow, only 29 days of school are remaining. As for Irons, we are in our home stretch. Soccer, tennis, and golf are in full swing, and before you know it, STAAR, Award Nights, and Final exams will arrive. Now is the time to stay on top of grades and attendance. I encourage all students to attend school daily as attendance is a leading factor for success in school.
I want to congratulate our Theater students on their performance in High School Musical. If you were not able to attend, you missed an outstanding performance. I want to thank Mr. Shafer and Mrs. Graham for their dedication to our students. I have included some pictures from the performance below.
This a reminder that STAAR Assessments begin on Tuesday, April 25th, and end on May 10th. For Irons to successfully administer the STAAR assessment, we need all students to attend and arrive at school by 8:50 on the day of the assessments. Any student arriving late will still be required to take the assessment, but we must move the student to an alternate testing room. If your child is absent from testing, they will make up the assessment on the make-up days. You can find more information about the schedule below.
Conroe ISD Virtual Academy:
Conroe ISD's Virtual Academy is enrolling students for the 2023-2024 school year. Students must be enrolled in Conroe ISD and entering grades 5-9 for the 2023-24 school year to be eligible to apply. Check out our website for more information: http://virtual.conroeisd.net
Instruction:
In two weeks, students will be participating in the redesigned State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®). The redesigned STAAR will allow our students to show in different ways what they have learned this year. The assessments for each grade level include:
- Grade 7 - Reading Language Art & Math
- Grade 8 - Reading Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, & Math
You can read more about the STAAR tests here: English / Spanish
View our STAAR testing Schedule below.
Transportation:
The CISD Bus Smart tags have been a success. Most students use the tags when loading and unloading our buses daily. To increase the speed at which we can load and unload, please remind your child to have their smart tag out and ready anytime they are loading and unloading buses. By doing this, we believe our buses' on-time performance will improve.
If your child needs a new smart tag, we will print a new tag for two dollars.
For the safety of all students, we will only allow our car rider students to exit in front of the school. Parents, please do not ask your child to violate this expectation. It will take all of us working together to keep our students safe.
