WMS Weekly Bulletin
September 17-23, 2018
As a new school, people are looking to form impressions of who we are. It is up to us to tell our story and make sure everyone sees the AMAZINGNESS that is happening in our building.
Last week, I visited nearly every classroom and was absolutely blown away by the teaching and learning going on. I was able to take several pictures and post them on our social media sites to engage our scholars and their families. The number of "hits" or "likes" these posts received is a clear indicator that our community is responding to the greatness at WMS.
Our campus hashtag, #WMSWarhawks, has been set up as the primary tag to include on all WMS posts no matter the social media site. When guests come to our campus, the TV screen in the front office searches Twitter & Instagram and pulls down the posts with this hashtag to display. (Don't worry, we are constantly checking to make sure no inappropriate posts get shared on the TV screen or our social media sites.) This is a great way to share experiences from around our school with people within the first few minutes of being on our campus.
What can you capture in your classroom or hallway that tells our story? Your challenge: Find one image this week that you can post on Twitter or Instagram and tag #WMSWarhawks!
Go Warhawks! And, remember, you belong here.

We'd love your feedback and want to know how you think we can make these goals come to life instead of getting stuck in a binder on a shelf for a year.

Schoology Tip of the Week
Responding to a message from an email notification only sends a response to the Schoology member who sent the message, regardless of whether it was sent to multiple other recipients. To respond to all message recipients, reply from within Schoology Messaging instead of from your email account.

Hearing and vision screenings are continuing again this week. Thank you to everyone for sending me scholars to be tested.

9:30 Attendance
We were one of the rock star campuses (and the only middle school campus!) for having at least one day at 100% attendance taken so far! Keep it up Warhawks!
Paraprofessionals: Time Clock Plus
- Time is rounding to the nearest quarter hour this year for paraprofessionals while auxiliary will still be actual time.
- As per DEC (LOCAL) Policy, comp time should be utilized before any available paid state and local leave. (We will allow 18 hours to carryover for use with district comp days in November and April.)
- Paraprofessional leave continues to be loaded in hours instead of days.
- Paraprofessional absences must be entered into TimeClock Plus. Absences should only be entered into AESOP if a substitute is required.
LEADS Teacher Innovators: Sponsors Needed
The LEADS program is designed to help students realize that no matter their age, anyone and everyone can make a difference in their community. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to work with students of other ages, which will promote positive interactions within CSISD as well as providing students with peer leader mentors. Students in the LEADS program will serve as ambassadors between our district and the community as they work on their projects. Another goal is for these leaders to be a visible presence at events within the district and around the City of College Station.
For more information, check out the LEADS Website.
We are looking for one more teacher to join Jill Butler as the LEADS Teacher sponsors to represent WMS. If you are interested, see Mishler.
EdCampCSTX - October 13
We'd love to have a full house of Warhawks to join in the conversations. If you have never attended an EdCamp, then we highly recommend you come. All attendees have the opportunity to build the learning conversations by providing input on what they want to learn about or feel comfortable facilitating a coversation.
