Relevant & Purposeful Post Test Instruction for 5/30-6/09
Between make-ups and after EOG testing is complete, it is imperative that we continue relevant and rigorous instruction until the last day of school. Many team members have shared with me the projects they have assigned for their classes that will be counted as a test grade for the 4th quarter report cards. I strongly encourage each teacher to assign a multi-day assignment that scholars can work on and present for their final grades. This will ensure that scholars are engaged with meaningful instruction until the last day of school. Watching non-instructional movies, having "free-time" for an entire period, and similar unstructured activities will increase the likelihood of disruptive and inappropriate behavior and will not be an option during the last two weeks of school.
Spring Band Concert Tuesday, May 30th 6:0-7:30pm
On Tuesday, May 30th Ms. Kimpson and our band scholars will conduct their spring band concert. This will be the final scholar performance of the 2016-17 school year. Please come out and support our talented band scholars on Tuesday night.
Spring Insight Survey Results Are In
Attached to this newsletter are the Spring 2017 Insight Survey results. Please review that feedback that was provided to our administrative team. This information will be used along with our EOG scores and final navigator results to inform our school improvement planning process for the 2017-2018 school year.
Scholars to Eat Breakfast in Cafeteria for the Remainder of the Year
Scholars will eat breakfast in the cafeteria and not in their classrooms for the remainder of the school year. This will limit the chance of spills or incidents with the Chromebooks. If scholars enter your classroom with cafeteria food or food from outside (eg, McDonald's) please direct them to the cafeteria.
SMS to Host Eastover PTA Board Meeting on Thursday
On this Thursday we will host the Eastover Elementary School PTA Board meeting in our school media center. The PTA meeting will be held from 8:30am-9:30am and immediately afterwards our visitors will be given a tour of our campus. We will also conduct an open house on Thursday afternoon from 5:00-6:00pm for any community members who would like to tour our campus.
