✅ PARENT UPDATES & REMINDERS ✅
It's Not Too Late!
If you have a neighbor, friend, or co-worker who thinks their student has missed the opportunity to join GLOW Academy this year - let them know IT'S NOT TOO LATE!
GLOW Academy has just a few more weeks to accept and enroll students and has space available in grades 6th-9th. Please help us spread the word! The application link is available on our homepage at www.glowacademy.net, or they may email Jen Wilson-Mathis.
Any parent/guardian referring a family that enrolls by September 11th will receive a new uniform shirt for your student and a special gift card just for you!
MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL
A friendly reminder that students should not be carrying medications, prescribed or over the counter, while at school they have received approval from Nurse Val.
BEGINNING OF YEAR FORMS
Please complete and return the Beginning of Year Forms that have been sent home this week. Your current and correct contact information is vital to ensuring you are receiving school communication. All forms should be turned in to Leadership Advisory Teachers.
Once we receive 100% of our Beginning of Year Forms back, students will enjoy their first "Dress Down Day" of the year! We will let you know as soon as we have a date; however, to help you prepare, please click the link to read our Student "Dress Down Day Expectations."
PTO Interest Form
We need your help! Planning is underway for this year's activities & events supported by GLOW Academy's Parent Teacher Organization. Please take a moment to complete the PTO form FOUND HERE.
If you would like to receive PTO communication, please CLICK HERE to submit your name, cell phone, and best email address.
🚍 TRANSPORTATION 🚍
If you have transportation questions, please contact our Transportation Coordinator, Kevin Whaley, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Bus Routes are found HERE and a link will be included at the bottom of the weekly edition of the GLOW Gazette. We will notify you when new route times or changes have been posted.
To date, we have distributed 271 Chromebooks to students, and hope to distribute the rest this week. In order to do so, we need a signed Chromebook Form and $20 Chromebook Fee paid to Leadership Advisory teachers.
If your student has not returned her form and/or payment, please ensure they do so ASAP.
Chromebooks are an essential learning tool in most of our classrooms, so it is important that each student receives their Chromebook as soon as possible.
Rising 7th & 12th Grade Required Immunizations
In North Carolina, children are not allowed to attend school (whether public, private, or religious) or a childcare facility, unless they have received all immunizations appropriate for their age.
While most of these immunizations occur before students enter Kindergarten there are two additional requirements that impact rising 7th and 12th grade students for the 2022-2023 school year.
RISING 7TH GRADE: Students entering 7th grade will be required to have one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine.
RISING 12TH GRADE: Students entering 12th grade will be required to have a booster (second) dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine if they have not already received one.
An up-to-date immunization record indicating that your student has received the required immunization is due by the first day of attendance at school. If proof of immunization is not provided within 30 calendar days after school entry, your student will not be allowed to attend school until it is provided, as required by law.
Immunization records can be dropped off at school or scanned/emailed to email@example.com.
GLOW Families - help us spread the word about a fun & free opportunity for those outside the GLOW Community.
Learning Circles are free events held once a month on Saturday mornings and are open to all 5th-8th grade girls who currently do not attend GLOW. These interactive mornings offer a great opportunity for siblings and those not familiar with all that GLOW has to offer a chance to participate in fun, hands-on activities, meet new friends, and learn more about what GLOW. Breakfast, lunch, and programming are provided.
For a complete list of dates & activities, CLICK HERE.
Tell your friends and neighbors -- siblings of current GLOW students are welcome too!
